Elnut. Have'nt been around for about five years, glad to hear you are on the mend. You and Billy are about the only folks I recognize on the board anymore. My wife tells me "Don't let thoughtless people get you down." Although she frequently likes to substitute colorful adjectives for "thoughtless people". Your reports are a mainstay on this board, so I'd like to thank you for your generosity and hard work. Michael B.

I even typed up a long PM to a fella on here asking about fishing cumberland, which I don't do, but I explained in DETAIL how I would go about doing it and he went out and had 7 boated on Friday and he sent a PM thanking me for the information. But information is also a 2 ways street. I had 2 different people sending me PM's before my week long trip last week with my buddy Cliff. I answered both of them in DETAIL again as usual, then we went out and had a very frustrating week with only 1 good day out of 5, that being thursday. But according to follow up post and pm's I see that these same 2 people SLAYED them the same week. THese 2 that were begging for information because the can't catch fish on the fly pretty much caught 10-1 for the week versus what we caught. I reply to both of them nicely asking what did they figure out that pretty much moved it from the craphouse to the penthouse and both of them said in not exactly the same words but meaning the same thing "we found something out and we will keep it to ourselves". Sure does want me to ask Peter to delete my article that I was asked to write, that several had asked Peter to ask me to write, that has since been copied on other sites (with my permission). Sure does make me want to "Keep whatever I know to myself in the future" for it does not pay to type up DETAILED information, give out your personal cell phone and offer any other help to any STRANGER that sends me a PM if when the time comes I just ask a simple question of what did you figure out and get rejected. I did not ask for honey hole gps cordinates but basic overview of what did they do different that what we did. This is fine with me because not saying I am any better than anyone else when it comes to the FNF but you can bet your last dollar that unless I have fished with you, you have your phone number programmed in my cell, or I know you personally, I have given out my last bit of DETAILED information to STRANGERS. WHen I say STRANGERS, I am not saying those that I have a personal relationship with be it email, phone or in person, basically if I can trust you to offer the same type of info in return I will still help but as far as the rogue email coming in from people that I have no clue about, I will not help and appologize in advance but this has left a REAL BAD TASTE IN MY MOUTH. Have a nice day and hope you catch a bunch the next time you go. For me, just got back from 2 days at Dale, going back Thursday for 3 more days and mid january for another 5 around the MLK holiday at least. Elnut
Have not been on here very long but you seem to be a nice guy. Do not fish Dale much as I don't really know it that well but I fish Cumberland as much as 3 to 4 times a week(I'm retired) will be glad to help you there. I also fish out of a deep v (crestliner fish hawk ) Have just been fishing FnF since last year but have been very successful with it . So if you want to stop off at Cumberland and need info send me a message. Don (Shinerman)

    Re: Sharing information....

Woody you and I along with others had an awefull good discussion (in my eyes) as to way to approach fishing drops/ledges I learned allot and I contribute as much as I can when I can and you PM'd me about the topic in which I really appreciate it so don't think that because a couple bad apples spoiled the bunch because some of us guys really appreciate help from others in the know, and let it be known that some things learned ARE turned around to things taught - I pass what I know to my boy, and friends alike, so you going into detail with some yahoo KVD wannabe's teaching them something means they should never be given privey to that info ever again. Your a good guy, thank you

    Re: Sharing information....

I've had it done to me and worse, had guys go out and catch and keep every doggone fish they catch. I feel your pain Woody but be careful how loose you get with your information. I read once you have been fishing for about 8 years or so now, let me give you some advice from old school, build you a network of fisherman you can trust. You don't have to be their best friend just good fisherman and more importantly good people that you can exchange ideas and experiences with then you will be set. It works and you don't have to worry about the meat hogs and the other things you have spoke of. I have become great friends with a few people from this site and fish with them fairly often. Two of them which I will leave nameless are EXCELLENT at the type of fishing they do. They have been kind enough to show me the ropes of these types of fishing and have expanded my knowledge and in return I can now do what they do on my own. Maybe not quite as good but you get the idea. My point is this I have told nobody what they have shown me. I've taken nobody to their spots and I won't out of respect for them and what they have shown me even though they both said it was alright. I do see why you would get your panties in a bunch from what you said but if I was you I would draw the line on where my info was getting spread to. Just this one man's opinion.

    Re: Sharing information....

One must be careful when making contraversial posts, they may get moved to the crapper as to avoid any bad press. Please just keep the posts positive as to attract hits and sell ads. On a sidenote Woody, most of the numbnuts out there go catch a fish and start seeing KVD when they look in the mirror. I share information with people that share with me, the rest of the keyboard commandos out there can choke on it. Most are looking for some kind of justification or overcompensation for some other shortfall in their worlds. Don't sweat it though amigo, if they are runnin from your reports or anyone else's reports they will always be one step and one day behind ya.

    Elnut,

We have never met but I do recall about a month ago some wanting to thrown a double hair jig at different levels when FnF ing. Once they figured it out I recall them saying they would keep it to themselves. I'm from the foothills MOrehead but live in Frankfort now and listen to everything you have to say on here. I'm heading to Dale Hollow and will be putting in at sunrise on the 9th and heading out on the 11th. Just got a 15 ft Stratos with a 50 Evinrude. If your there please stop and say hi. This is be my second trip to Dale and second time FnF ing. I mainly be on the KY side... Heal Fast and Fish Hard! I

The double jig on the fly would be easy to rig, use 2 - 1/32 oz jigs tie the to jig with a palomar knot leaving a long leader then tie the bottom jig. The combined jig weight would work on the standard bob's bobbers ok from a weight standpoint since it is 1/16oz total. The problem I see is that I want my jig knot on the top of the eye so my jig is horizontal at all times. not sure if either or both of the jigs would stay in this position. Never tried it and probably never will. Going this weekend for 3 days then possibly longer trip in 2 weeks around MLK weekend so no chance on going the weekend you are going. In frankfort quite often so maybe you can send me a pm and we can get together in person before your trip and maybe I can help a bit. Not the best on the KY side because I don't fish it that much but have some. TN waters mostly for me 99% of the time. Elnut

No problem sharing with those that share with me at all. I do wish that I had never agreed to write that article on the fly just because I have met a lot of "strangers" because of it and I am sure 99% of them are on the level but it is also the reason that I met the other 2. Maybe I should have kept it all to myself and let all rookies learn like I did - Time, Money, Water time, Trial and Error, make acquaintances that turned into very good friends down at Dale, Frozen toes and cold fingers. I know that is not the nicest thing to say but after getting the cold shoulder from these 2 after the amount of info I gave them on the PM before, like I said Bad Taste in my mouth.

I hope you don't let this cut your ties to anyone who asks you a question. The way I look at it, there is a wealth of knowledge to learn from you guys on this site, and I would hate to loose it.

I am a strictly recreational fisherman, and my poor soul needs all the help I can get when it comes to fishing these big lakes.

Your post makes me wish I would have known to ask you about fishhing KY and Barkley lakes sooner.

Since I just fish for fun, I have been known to give GPS coordinates to fellow fishermen if I just happen to blindly stumble upon a good spot. I do it in the hopes that i may get the favor returned to me someday.

Sorry about what happened to you Elnut, I just hope that for me and any other part time fisherman on this site, we don't loose your insight completely.
