    Trolling Motor Mounts

My trolling motor mounts to the boat with those rubber isolaters and they worked fine until this year when I switched to a 24 volt system. Now the motor has more torque and is causing these isolators to loosen and break. I've already replaced them twice. What other options do I have? I don't have access to the inside for tightening with bolts. Thanks

    Re: Trolling Motor Mounts

They make different sizes for the larger thrust motors. The smaller isolaters, work for smaller motors, while the larger, 3/8 inch ones are necessary for stronger motors.

I had the same issue, and simply used the larger ones.........

    Bass Pro carries them.

I looked out on BPS. I found two different brands. Rite-Hite and Minn Kota Quick Nuts. Are one of these the ones that worked for you?

Those might be right..............check the diameter of the ones you are using.......the might already be 3/8. If so, get the 1/2 inch ones, and redrill the holes in your deck........I think the ones I used were from MinnKota, but I might be wrong..............

I do know I got them from BPS in Clarkesville, IN.

The ones I was using was 1/2 inch rubber inserts with 3/8 bolts.

I checked a few other forums and decided to go in a different direction than the rubber inserts. I bought some heavy duty toggle bolts from Lowes, the kind that are spring loaded and open up after you push them in. I cut off the tops off of the old rubber inserts to keep them between the bracket and boat and inserted the toggles in. I had to redrill the holes in the boat to 3/4 inch. It seems to be a good fix, but I won't know until I start banging the boat around and see if they hold.

    Re: Trolling Motor Mounts

Minn Kota make a motor mount to make it possible to take motor on and off. I too recently went from a 12 volt to a 24 volt and the difference is unreal to me. I think the motor guide mounts come with the motors?? I got mine at sportsman wearhouse in lexington. The Mount makes the motor really tight and ive had no problem as of yet?!?!? hope this helps.
