Yes we have. I've caught 2 that were taged previously and had 3 of my tagged fish caught. The best one was a fish I caught and tagged which was recovered 10 days later, over 200 miles from here in Port Matanzas, Cuba. The recovery rate is about 2% and increasing with the use of circle hooks. This not bad since these fish are expected to live only about 5 years. Just because it swims off during the release does not mean it survives. Guy Harvey did a limited Satellite tag research. He sat/tagged 20 Sailfish caught on J hooks and 20 caught on circle hooks. Satellite information revealed that 13 of the 20 caught on J hooks survived the ordeal, resulting in a 65% survival rate. 20 of the 20 caught on circle hooks survived, which is a 100% survival rating.

This small sampling is good evidence, at least for me, to fish with circle hooks. We use circle hooks whenever possible, on The BEAST
