Re: Fishing TV Shows start soon

WGFS is the best show going IMO. Zona is too cool, funny and can flat out catch em! I'm also excited to see Going Coastal with Byron Velvick. The show sounds pretty cool. You can read more about it on Velvick's blog right here...

On a side note... Mark, I agree, "Icon-idiot" is a big tool. He'll hook a 14 incher and yell, "I just won the tournament!!!" What???

Just got done watching the first The Bass Pros show of the year on DVR from yesterday. Woo flipping boat docks, KVD 4 minutes of topwater and Clunn on water displacement by crankbaits. Jason Quin and Edwin Evers are a part of the staff as well for I forgot them earlier. Most informative show on tv, but Zona is still my favorite just because it is so entertaining.

My favorite show is "Hunt for Big Fish" with Larry Dahlberg. Larry is about as dry as the Sarah and the music/editing looks like it was done by a HS AV club, but I love the content with the exotic fish in exotic locations.

He catches many freshwater fish that make bass seem tame.

    Hyrdolycus armatus
    Hydrocynus vittatus
    Hoplias aimara
    Cichla sp
    Arapaima gigas!!!

I wish some one that knew how to make a show would pick it up!

But that tool is making about $500K a year doing something we all love to do. Not to big of a tool if you ask me.

Awe I was a bit harsh on Mike I guess. He's not my cup of tea but I have heard of countless good things he has done to get our young people involved in the great outdoors. For that I will give him a big thumbs up, and yea he's making a heck of alot more money than me fishing so maybe I'm a little jealous or alot, lol. But I do hate the screaming and saying every fish is huge, and he really needs to learn how to handle fish, he does a terrible job in that arena, just horrible.

Larry Nixon, Denny, David Fritz all great guys as nice as could be - I was going to meet my heroes I'm a grown man not a little kid so I didn't act like a child and to be snubbed like that was just wrong. The reason I am saying this is because last year my son was wanting to meet Iaconelli soooo bad but he had to work and couldn't get off and a friend of ours was getting an autograph from him and told him about my son and he took out his cell phone and called our house - I freaked when I answered the phone and he talked to my son and told him he was going to take him fishing next time he was in town (he has done this to someone else I know and he did just that) how good a guy is that? awesome and I respect that, my son loves him to death and that is "his" hero.

I agree Fish Fishburn was awesome and I almost feel bad when I see him MC some other club as good as he is/was. His show was pretty good too very entertaining
OFFDTOP, up until your comments about Ike, I couldn't really stomach the guy. You changed my mind the way he called your boy. Guess I'll have to tolerate his personallity now, because the phone call (and a confirmed follow up to the promise) might just be his true feelings and the rest is a show.

there are worse guys out there, by that I mean real stuck up guys, real dirtbags who act as though they are better than anybody and this guy doesn't do that. Yes he is over the top but I remember Hackney screamin "Godzilla couldn't beat me", Or Ish Monroe screamin when he caught that big one at Amistad, I think it's funny, amusing I don't look at it negatively Iaconelli is high strung, but how many times can you listen to "dats big momma" without cringing? I agree the breakdancing on deck is a bit much but I believe if you read his book Bassmasters asked him to do it, but they also asked Skeet to dance also. He's competitive and I take it that when he does catch a fish it actually means something to him, I know the fit he threw on camera was wrong but if you want to learn some new curse words fish with me when I break one off in a tourney. Really "meet" the guy he's not the character on TV because you only see glimpses of his fishing day due to the coverage. I don't know.... I get pumped when other guys get pumped up, have you ever fished with a partner who's having a bad day? the day that started wrong before getting into the boat? makes for a real cruddy day, but if he's pumped up LOOK OUT we gonna rock the world.

How dare you say that foul sounding word you have described in your post....

Man Law # 3 never mention the 4 letter word that starts with a W and ends with a D...... You could be sent out to the woodshed and whipped with slimy spaghetti noodles......

I forgot to mention, if you like fishing and hunting shows, you would love my house. I have all the ESPN's, Versus, The Outdoor Channel and The Sportsmen Channel. The Sportsmens Channel is great. It is 24/7 hunting and fishing, no infomercials, no prospecting or Four wheeling shows. Just hunt and fish, fish and hunt. Production quality on some of the shows are not up to standard, but still very entertaining.
