    Re: UK/UL basketball predictions

That ending reminded me of a line from one of those baseball movies, either Major League or Bull Durham.........

......nice shot Edgar......don't ever f'n do it again!

Good that he hit it, but a 30 footer isn't exactly the highest percentage shot in that situation. Wondered what was going thru Tim T's mind as that shot went in the air......

    Whaddya do?

If a 30-footer is all they've got for the win, I'll let em take it every time...and once out of twenty tries, they'll hit it. Looks like this was that once out of twenty.

I never could understand why pitino went there. He likes rebuilding schools that's what it is. I forgot. let's start keeping score now and see who goes farther in the next few years.. I wonder if ladysville will end up better than ky does this year. Doubt it. Mhall lol

Well between U of L , UK and my Hoosier's I'd take a bet that IU winds up on the better end of the whole deal within 3 years.....lol

Pitino is done U of L fans...His glory days are over just like Crum's were his last 7 or 8 years he coached...... Better start lookin for a real coach to get over that hump of not winning the Big Dance game again......

Dude I'll try and keep my emotions in check here because obviously you are a hater and have an extremely low basketball I.Q. In today's basketball climate it's unreal hard to be great every year. There are kids that leave early, jump ship before they ever come after telling you they are coming, injuries, academics, every school has a superstar evn midmajors, blah blah blah. The laundry list is endless. Look at Duke, probably one of the most succesful programs in the last 20 years and when was their last championship???? To refresh your short memory which probably isn't the only thing short on you here goes. Louiville was an elite 8 team last year which means they ended the year in the top ten, thus the reason they had the lofty pre-season ranking. Oh and by the way pre-season rankings don't mean squat, never have never will to quote you and your brilliance. Where you are now has absolutely nothing to do with where you end up at the end of the year. Pitino also took the Cards to a final four in 2005 with middle of the road talent other than Garcia. He is the only coach to take three difffernt teams to a final four, but of course you being of such a strong basketball mind would know that. I'll end with this, liking and or hating a team is fine and having a good debate is fine. Look at Sliptshot's posts, I'm doubting he has Louisville posters hanging in his basement, lol, but he debates with intelligence and clean humor and rib poking. You come on here with chump team, ladysville, they ****, ect. I should overlook it but sorry I'm not that big I guess. Do me a favor, learn something about basketball Oscar Combs instead of Kentucky is God and everbody else ***** and maybe we can take you serious.

    MHALL
I have absolutely nothing but the best too say about Pitino. He should have won a championship by now. However, the kids that go to UL for some reason have the worst attitude of anybody I've ever seen. Example, Sosa with his pulling the shirt, "this is our house." come on they barely beat a team according too the ranking they should have stomp. It's always bad attitude with them. But I say again, I love Pitino. And I will say again. Nevermind KY being the most winning team in basketball history, and I do understand a lot of it it history. Also having more championships than anybody but unlv and I may be wrong there. You know my basketball mind and all. But let's start keeping score right now. I understand you'll probably be ahead at the end of the year and I wouldn't bet on that. But in the next five years, I'll bet we will be ahead. And again my problem with UL is the attitude. I may be wrong but I don't remember any of our guys acting like they were in the hood or something

Look, I didn't care for the "This is our house" stuff either, but let's get real...these are kids, and they come from all kinds of backgrounds, they see pro athletes walking with a swagger, and are groomed to showboat when it gets right down to it. I feel quite certain if the tables were turned and we beat them at Rupp with a 3 at the buzzer that there would be similar celebration. I've got no beef with the Cards there.

There's this idea that Louisville is the big city school full of thug ball players from the hood....and Kentucky is the frontier outpost full of good old down home country boys....get real. Both are wrong. Sure, there are a lot of historical differences between the two schools, but in modern college ball there's a whole lot of parity. UK fans should embrace tradition and history, but that doesn't mean you should live in 1978. It's 2009, the game has changed, the environment has changed...Cats and Cards are bitter rivals, hopefully always will be...but as much as one side thinks they are better than the other, they are quite the same now. UK just happens to have a larger tradition of winning/championships in the past.

Holy crap. I think I just took up for the Cards.

By the way, I think you mean UCLA (11) having more titles than UK. The Runnin Rebs aint even close, as they've only got (1).

You can't state the facts any better than this post by Brian, it's spot on without debate. I to hate the screaming after a shot made, the jersey pulling, the chest thumping like Tarzan going down the court. But guess what guys, they all do it, every doggone team in America today at some point will show these traits on the floor. It's all part of this culture that has been made popular by the liberal media, music, and so on and we aren't gonna change it anytime soon. I'm old school, I like the old ways and I always will but I guess I'll just have to be tolerant of certain things. Does this make ALL of them punks and gangbangers, certainly not.
As the greatest basketball coach of all time, and one of the finest human being's to ever breath air has always said. '' When you do something great, act like you've been there before, humility is a virtue ". Said by coach John Wooden. I made a comment about coach Brooks and what he did in the Liberty Bowl. One of the things that I really like about this man is his consistant diligence to respect for the other team, and no trash talking, I really admire him for this. Fellas all teams do it, it's wrong and even the truely top shelf athletes do it sometimes. Edgar Sosa has the mentality and maturity of a 12 year old, that' why Pitino told him he would probably be better transfering to another school, so try and overlook him.
