Where would you go and when ???

I'm trying to decide on a place to go fishing while on vacation. I can take up to nine days in row if you count the weekends, so traveling some distance is not out of the question. I would like to go some place and catch some quality bass as well as some good numbers. Any suggestions?

I'd go to someplace like the BWCA or Quetico and fish smallmouth, but that's just me. It's not everyone's cup of tea.

I'm new on this board but I would recommend a trip to Guntersville, first or second week of March. Quality fish and numbers during early spring and you don't have to fight the grass as much as later in the year.

    1) I'm leaving in one week for a Bonefishing and Tarpon trip to Honduras. Any Central American trip would be highly productive right now (January- March). Tarpon, permit, and bonefish are all on the flats this time of the year. Snook can be found staging in the creek mouths and mangroves, and the weather can not be beat.

    2) Dale Hollow FNF. Now.

    3) KY Lake. April.

    4) Elkhorn Creek. June.

Amistad, Falcon lake, any Mexico Lake they catch alot of big fish in January and February,
March, or April - Guntersville, Pickwick, KY Lake, Table Rock
April or May - Kentucky/Barkley Lake, Lake of the Ozarks
June, July or August - ??? Nite fishing on KY Lake is great, Same with LOZ
September or October - KY/Barkley or Pickwick

I would like to go to some of the more historical lakes like: Lake Fork, Toledo Bend, Toho, If I could go anywhere I would probably opt for Falcon Lake or Salto in Mexico

Lake Fork mid March. Last year we were averaging 15 fish per day. The second day we were there our 5 largest weighted 45 lbs. A great lake to fish late feb through the first week of April.

May or June in Lake St. Clair in Michigan it is an awesome lake for both small mouth and large mouth and in between those you will hook muskie, pike, rock bass, sheep head, large perch and a few walleye.
It is hard to beat that lake anywhere. 50-100 fish a day is by no means unheard of.

Lake El Salto, Mexico. Stay with Angler's Inn. See www.anglersinn.com for all info.

I have taken this trip twice in July and it's flat out amazing. The reports you read on their website and not at all embelished. In those 2 trips I caught real good numbers of 1-4 pound bass and had several in the 5-7 pound range. My 2 biggest were 10.3 and 11.2... All fish caught on artificial lures. The day I caught the 11.2 I also caught an 8 pounder. My partner and I caught over 100 that day (and that inlcudes taking a 3 hour siesta during the heat of the day).

April - mid July is ALL GOOD! Look into it and go if you can. You will not be disappointed in the least.

Thumbs up Re: Where would you go and when ???

Is this going to be a family vacation ? If so, I would highly recommend Gulf Shores Alabama in June or July. The wife can lay on the beach all day and you can wade the surf with a spincasting outfit and literally wear your arm out on Pompano, Bluefish, Ladyfish,Spanish Mackeral and if you want you can buy a crabtrap at Wal-Mart and catch all the Blue crab you want. Pompano is the best eating fish you will ever eat. Just a thought to keep everyone in the family happy.
