    Question Elkhorn Creek Help

I recently bought a float tube to use mainly on the Cumberland River, but I was wanting to try it on Elkhorn too if possible. I know absolutely nothing about Elkhorn Creek though, except that it has a good reputation for smallies. Is the water fishable by tube? Where are the best places to put in/take out? Really any information would be a huge help and greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

Georgetown has a couple places that you can put a small boat in so I know it's deep enough. There isn't much of a current to my knowledge in thoughs areas. Where there is public access I don't know of any floating areas in Franklin Co.

    Re: Elkhorn Creek Help

I enjoy fishing from a float tube as well, but I have never thought that the Elkhorn would be very good for it because of the depth and size of my most productive spots. I mainly wade fish the main stem and come across pools that would be deep enough for a float tube occaisionally. But, if they are deep enough, well, that won't last come Summertime. I know the Horn rolls along a little more lazily on the North and South Forks, and like the guy said, it certainly is deep enough in some of those parts for a small boat much less a tube. I just never fish those areas that much. I'd love to hear how you do from a tube if you do go. A great source of information about the Horn can be found by contacting Canoe KY in Peak's Mill. They may not be up on the latest fishing report or info, but they know the creek and creek conditions very well.
