Well I can answer the first one . Yes you can park on the Ind. side and fish the main stem of the river. If you fish the creeks leading into the river you have to have the apropriate license for that particular side IND. or KY. Chuck

This is my first post on this forum, so thanks to all you guys whose posts I have been scouring. There is a lot of knowledge stored on this forum, quite the brain trust indeed. Enough flattery, I'll get to the meat of it. I grew up on the banks of farm ponds and public lakes like Prisoners in Kenton county and wading creeks like Gunpowder in Boone, and Ten Mile near Verona/Napolean Station. The point is this is my prefurred kind of turf. I live in Old Louisville now (GO CARD!!!) and have only in the last season started moving beyond the extensive public lake system in the Metro. I can't express my sadness concerning the closing of Otter Creek Park. I found out about it to late. So here come the questions.
1. I know a guy who knows a guy who is going to show us the ropes at the falls, apparently he goes in by what has been described to me as a marine raiding craft, which sounds exciting. Is my KY license honored if I park in Indiana? I know he fishes in the riffles near the fossil beds and thats about it. Can anyone fill in any of those gaps?
2. Where is a good place to access Breashers (sp?) Creek? I read smallies can be had there but thats all the info I could find.
3. Where is a good place to put in a canoe on the Little KY?
4. Can I fish Otter Creek above the bridge if I have a Ft. Knox fishing pass?
5. I wailed on the trout they put in Cherokee Lake early in the fall, not that its hard to catch freshly stocked farm raised fish, especially if you have a few panther martins! I caught them all in the corner near that willow where I wasn't supposed to be (that old grounds keeper guy was pretty nice about runnin me off). Can't find em anywhere else in the lake, same for Miles #4, except I caught em by the dam.
Any help would be much appreciated.

OH and a big welcome to the board. Lot's a good people here...
Welcome to the board and enjoy yourself fishing the fossil beds.I have never done it yet, but heard it is great. Go into Taylorsville past the first light, go across the first bridge and turn left. You can then fish Breshears creek.
Thanks for the answers about the falls and the creek there. I'm a river rat too, well that's what the cake eaters called us back in the day, anyone else old enough to remember the Bromley Bulldogs or, perhaps the Ludlow Panthers would be more memorable? Good stuff. Oh yeah, is the creek deep enough to float a good piece in a 14' canoe? That would make my day. Also, any advice on trying the float and fly with an actual fly rod would be appreciated. Can I make a worthwhile replication of this technique with say floating fly line, a long tapered leader and a strike indicater? Thanks again folks. Also really curious about Otter Creek, usually I like Mr. Mayor for Life, but he's messin with the firefighters and closing such a magnicicent park kinda make me wanna pop em in the nose. Anyone on the board close to KDFWR heard anything about it? I heard something on the news a couple weeks back about the state possably taking it over as a WMA, any skuttle butt about that?
I live right next to miles park and used to fish it all the time, the trout stocking is weird. The very first time they were stocked, they all bit half way between the dam and the back of the lake. Since then, they are all either caught off the dam or in the very back which is a long walk and can be muddy. They seem to really school up with each stocking and all bite in one area. I have had some really good days there but the trout usually go fast due to the amount of fishing pressure.
Tom Wallace Lake is also stocked Spring and Fall, and Fisherman's Park is stocked in the Spring. And both are worthwhile catfish holes, as is Miles, and also Long Run Park. For smallies in this area, try putting your canoe into Floyd's Fork, but not around Louisville, it's an E Coli farm.
