    Re: fish replica question

My self I am all for the fiberglass replica, I had a small mouth done it looks great. I hold nothing against anyone wanting the real one done but the fiberglass replica will look a lot better in 10 years from now. I would assume you want to keep it for ever so in the long run there is no comparison.
As with the real ones it makes a difference on fiberglass ones as well on who does it.

    Re: fish replica question

replicas do look great when done well. The monster bronze back Justin had done did look great. I've seen several other replicas and they do look a lot better in the long run, compared to their counter parts. To each their own though.

    Re: fish replica question

I have a 8lb 6oz largemouth fiberglass replica, that Mikes Taxidermy did, its not as good as a skin mount, but it was done when fiberglass was kind of a new concept, so I am sure they have gotten better by now. But it still looks as good now as the day I picked it up, so they hold up very well.

    Re: fish replica question

I have a 3# Crappie from the Eighteys, and a 10# LM Bass over 20 years old, a couple Walleye close to 20 and a Yellow Perch over 18 years old.
Clean every so often with a fine bristle brush and a careful vacum job and keep out of a sunny window.
If I could just get that 50# Striper I'd be set.

    Re: fish replica question

i have ben thinking of getting a replica for my next wall mounter. just so some one else can have a chance to catch that fish in the future. all you need is the length, girth, and a picture and you are good to go. i am all about replicas. just my thought

I had a 42 inch northern pike replica made by Don Frank. He lives in Smithville, MO, and his web site is: www.donstaxidermy.com. He does beautiful work. Just send a photo, measure length and girth. He has won many awards in state and national competition.

    Re: fish replica question

Mine was done by a company in Mo called Great Fish Reproduction and they did a great job. In my opinion the display itself can be just as important as the fish as far as appearance. The display mount was next to none compared to others I have seen. Extremely well packed when I got it as well to insure no damage. Here is the link to the company highly recommend them.

most makers now a days do not need the actual fish so you can probably get one anywhere
