    need some help please

    my son was just given a rod and reel from his papaw. it was a buddy of his that past away and it has alot of sentamental value. it needs to be cleaned up greased and oiled. i can maintain the ones i have that are low profile but this is a quantum iron with the big spool and it has to be unscrewed and i dont want to mess it up so do any of you all know who can clean this reel for me so it will be ready to use. i would do it my self but my wife told me if i mess it up she would kill me. any where around the louisville area.

    Sometimes it better to send these reels back to the manufactor for cleaning and repair. If you do, make certain you tell Quatum, in the note included with the reel, just what you want done and to return this exact reel back to you. Shimano used to send me a new reel whenever I sent them one for repair. Key word here was "used" to.

    I have two of thoes reels. I am no expert but I went to their web site and got a break down on all of the parts. I did clean and lub mine myself but you have to be careful and lay out all of the parts in order as you take it apart so that it will go back together in the same manner.



    I like my reels and I hope Your son likes his.
