How cold of a water temp is to cold for the fly? Thanks for the help

when the water gets hard,lol have caught smallmouth @ cumberland when water temp was in the 30's
That stinks all the lakes close to me are now in the high 30's.
When you make your cast and the bobber and jig bounce down the ice is when it is too cold. If the fly will sink and the bobber will stand up then it is ok to fish.

bradley if u can handle the cold and the lake isnt froze over wish that jig luck and let it hang under that bobber till ole big brown comes a calling....it might be a little slower and dont jiggle the bobber as fast as u are shivering.. best way i do that is grip the rod lightly so the reverberations from my body dont go up thru the rod....
AS LONG as its not frozen...when it gets to the freezing level 37-40 degrees an upside down tied pattern comes into play....
