yeah under 20 minutes be careful out there guys
Yes very sad;
It is beyond my comprehension how so many people don't realize the risk of being in a boat in cold water, and its not just teenagers.
I live here and about 3 miles (by water) from the accident and the news reports say the boys had on life jackets - Until the boat hit a large wave over the bow. They were all wearing waders and took the jackets off to remove the waders but the water over took them. It is truly sad..... my wife has cried every day over this because we have a 19yr old and it very well could have been him. Say a prayer for the families and the rescuers as they battle these frigid temps to find the missing boys, they are accepting donations to help keep the rescue/recovery operational, news channel 6 in Paducah has it on their website FYI...
This is definitely a sad time here in Marshall County as it would be anywhere such a tradgedy such as this has occurred. As offdtop mentioned...please say a prayer for these boys and their families as well as those that are battling the winds and frigid conditions to find the boys that are still missing and bring them home. If you do have a little extra that you could afford to donate to assist in keeping the rescue operations going, I am sure it would be appreciated by everyone involved...here is where you can send your donations:
Here are the addresses where you can send money to help with the search effort.

prayers sent up from here in richmond...i cannot imagine what the family of those 2 boys that havent been found yet are going thru..... dave are they letting the locals come out with there boats and help look or not..... because i am sure some people on here would brave the figid temps to come give a hand to the rescuers..... my mom worked for the red cross and people showing up with hot coffee and soup helps more than people could ever imagine..... if i lived out in that part of the state i would put on the cold gear and come out if they would let me.....
Very sad indeed. Any updates on this?
there was as of last count 12 "locals" helping but this frigid temp is hampering everything including equipment. I have a side scan on my Ranger but I am afraid I would get in someones way, they have people from Louisiana and Mississippi with sonars working on it now.
There are some locals out there...initially a lot of folks were out there walking the shorelines etc.....the extreme cold here and the high winds have hampered the operations considerably. They have professional rescue teams here working when they can..but with the extreme cold and high winds the search hours have been limited because the water is freezing as soon as it spashes onto the equipment etc. Volunteering to bring your boat to assist is a noble gesture..but if the professionals are having a hard time...getting a lot of local boats out there in those conditions is just asking for more problems for the professionals. It is dangerous out there to say the least. Best thing you can do is send a donation if you can and say some prayers for everyone involved.
