Very sad indeed. Any updates on this?
there was as of last count 12 "locals" helping but this frigid temp is hampering everything including equipment. I have a side scan on my Ranger but I am afraid I would get in someones way, they have people from Louisiana and Mississippi with sonars working on it now.
There are some locals out there...initially a lot of folks were out there walking the shorelines etc.....the extreme cold here and the high winds have hampered the operations considerably. They have professional rescue teams here working when they can..but with the extreme cold and high winds the search hours have been limited because the water is freezing as soon as it spashes onto the equipment etc. Volunteering to bring your boat to assist is a noble gesture..but if the professionals are having a hard time...getting a lot of local boats out there in those conditions is just asking for more problems for the professionals. It is dangerous out there to say the least. Best thing you can do is send a donation if you can and say some prayers for everyone involved.
