Back in the early 90s Turtle Creek was one of the best places i had ever fished, and haven't been since then I would have never thought it would be like it is now , I could remember skippping school and driving 3 hours just to fish there lol

Seems like the lake silted in quite a bit too, as it's tougher to find those old clay bottoms with any decent depths. At least they started restocking bass, as well as other species, to help improve things. Still, the population of fish is way down, even though you can still catch some big fish out there.
You need to make a run over to Newton Lake, IL, instead. Great lake and about the same time to drive there from Indy.
still some toads in there but no way close to the old days. Last time I went was very early last spring . Everyone that was fishing (all 3 boats) went up into the warm water , I swung up into the south arm by the turkey farm and had a real good day. I think I caught 2 keepers and quite afew smaller but a lot of fun. caught them on a black neon tube and a black and blue jig if my old memory serves me right. Also try the ledges down by the dam they still hold some fish. If you eat fish rig up a baitcaster with a big dd16 chrome or white and catch all the catfish you want I don't think they have a limit (check I could be wrong)good luck...
