It has been a day...
I'll admit that I stopped at work, walked out of my office to the bull pen (sales room) and watched Biden and Obama take their oaths and listened to the speeches.
My question is WHERE did the extra cost of this inauguration come from? Was it security costs for the enormous crowd? What made this one so much more expensive? Was freaking Aretha that expensive to book? (I mean, Snoop Dogg would have sang the Star Spangled Banner for half of what Aretha charged...could have probably just paid him in weed...and did anybody find it ironic that the festivities began with a fat lady singing? LMAO)
I get that this is a "momumental day" in the eyes of many Americans...I agree that it's pretty monumental to swear in the first African American Prez, even though I voted for the other camp, but I just can't see spending $150 million on a day of pomp-and-circumstance. Of course, I also can't see spending a bunch of money on a wedding either, but I know many feel differently on that one. (Stacy and me spent about $1000 on ours, which included the cost of the license, renting a tux and a dress, and buying pictures. lol)
What would have impressed me would have been for BO to say "Aint no sense in spending a bunch of coin on me...have that honkey swear me in on the way over in the car and let's take this $150 million and feed a bucketload of hungry Americans or something. Fo Shizzle."
What happened to all that share the wealth crap?
Ah well, water under the bridge...he's finishing up the Obama-Ball by now, or whatever it is. All jokes aside, I sure hope hollywood can fix this country. I'll give him a chance, and I'll stand a salute if he can.
