I used the Salteater version this past summer in Mobile Bay. The shrimp WILL outfish the real thing. It stays on the hook better and the fish bite it just as well. When I was down the bait shops were out of minnows and shrimp. I used a piece of Gulp on a small hook to catch croakers to fish with. I havent used it in freshwater but I plan to this spring.
