ohio river is it worth it now

Thinking of going to Mcalpine pool this weekend, but havent heard any reports. Anyone been is worth while.

I fished all afternoon yesturday by the Falls of the Ohio state park. Didn't catch anything, as a matter of fact everyone I talked to didn't catch anything. The water is down, but I feel that it will need about 1 more week for it to be better. But if you go best of luck and let us know how you did!

Dont feel bad, I fished meldhal dam all week and only have one fish to show for it with all the dead shad coming through the gates you would think there would be something there, I saw a guy catch three short fish out of a boat yesterday, most fish I have seen all week.

Fishing is one thing but catching under these conditions is kind of tricky. I bet that water temperature is in the mid-to-upper 30s which really slows them down. I have fished out there several times in the past under such conditions and man are the fish really moving and biting slow. You almost have to fish minnows on the bottom and put them in their face. You also have to have a lot of patience when you get a bite because they bite short a lot and pull the minnows off of the hook. A really good way to catch them is to veritical jig with a live minnow and put a stinger hook in the tail of the minnow for the short bites...
