Do any of you guys use fluro for cranking? I've heard some pro's reccomend it and with the price of a good fluro just thought i would check? Never used it cranking, does it make that much of a difference? Thanks

This is just my personal opinion, but the only time I use flouro is deep cranking, and that's only when I want get a little deeper. Flouro sinks so you'll get an extra 1-2 ft out of a deep crank where mono floats and your bait is fighting against that while trying to get it down.

I use Flouro for EVERYTHING except topwater and flipping the buck brush or heavy timber. Mono for topwater and braid for flipping wood. For cranking you will get the absolute maximum depth with flouro on your crankbaits. For deep cranking, I will make a long cast and let the bait sit for up to a minute to let the line sink first so it is pulling the crankbait down from the first crank of the reel, plus it will help you get a couple of extra feet on your depth not to mention getting and keeping the bait in the proper depth you desire. I also use Flouro for all my soft plastic and jigs as well. With the less stretch than mono and the fact that it is almost totally invisible under water, lets me "feel" what I am dragging it thru plus I get better hooksets with flouro since it stretches less than mono. I even use it for night fishing and will give up the ability to see my line under the blacklight for the feel of what I get by using it. It might be more expensive to buy but since I don't change from technique to technique, I find myself re-spooling a lot less often than I used to.

I've tried it before but truly its too expensive with not enough reward to use it for cranking; plus the memory makes it rough. I usually use 8lb P-Line Xtra-Strong it has little stretch like floro and its pretty strong. I know Suffix actually makes a deep cranking line but I've never used it, so I cant vouch for it. I 've heard some people use like 15lb test braid and tie a uni knot with about a 10ft section of floro if you want depth. No memory and a spool of floro should last u a while.

I've been using the "Transition" flouro for awhile now , so far I LOVE it , all the best and easy to see too (when line watching) I do have and use "others" but not so sure when time to buy again I won't replace those too!

Memory hasn't been an issue on baitcasting reels for me either FWIW.

I still use fireline quite a bit (often with a flouro leader) I really like it's traits also. The "combo" is nice at times (confidence wise for me)

Fluro is alright for crankimg if your one of those people that can sweep back into the fish once they hit it! if your using a stiff rod and like to set the hook when fishing a crankbait fluro is not for you!!! with hardly no strech it will rip those trebles right out of there mouth!!

I do swing for the fences and have never broken one off on the hookset or pulled any hooks out of their mouths and I use G Loomis 7' MH rods for everything and I use Flouro for all except topwater and flipping. First to admit that I am not a huge crankbait user and if you take out spring as they are moving in and out to spawn and deep cranking on ledges, I don't use them hardly at all. As far as the stretch goes, I thought the same thing about the limited stretch but begin to wonder a bit just because if you go to www.tackletour.com and look at their product review archives you will see a couple of reviews of all types of flourocarbon being tested against Trilene XL Mono. Their overall review says there is very little difference in the stretch value of Flouro versus Mono. Not saying I agree with or disagree with but I do know I get better feel of the bottom with flouro and I do get my crankbaits down deeper with flouro. As far as the stretch theory their reviews made me think. They don't come out and say which Flouro is the best but they do compare just about every aspect of it and I was very suprised at some of the results as some of you will be as well. I will say that the Bass Pro XPS that I have been saying is the best all along comes out extremely high in all the catagories and I would say if they had to rank them it would be one of the top 3 if not the best overall taking into consideration all of the test they ran. Take a look and judge for yourself. Elnut

My personal opinion mirrors Elnut's and I believe that fireline is much more apt to pull the hooks out (especially trolling) unless you back the drag WAY off and take much longer to get them in (and this is on a very fast tip rod at that)
