    along way from barren

hey everyone, my name is Tim Lewis i'm from smith's grove ky. i just recently found your forum and have enjoyed reading your stories. i have lived in atl. ga now for almost 19 yrs. but smith's grove will always be home. i've spent countless days and nights fishing barren river,i can close my eyes now and see the dam and the island and the hogs back. i do fish
still but it's on a body of water called lake allatoona if any of you have traveled to atlanta you cross over it on i-75 30 miles north of atl. there is hardly in structure in this lake. you either have to build your own brush piles, which i have or search out other peoples done alot of that too lol.
anyway just wanted to introduce myself, and i look forward to reading all your fishing encounters. who knows someone on here might actually know me.
    hope to be home oneday

    Welcome aboard sidespin47,
My brother lives abut 15 minutes from Allatoona and he keeps asking me to come down there and fish it. He does not have a boat so he does not know if there is fish in it or not. I will be coming thruogh there after my Floria trip at end of February. Is Allatoona worth fishing or not? If not I may just buzz him around the lake so he can see it, he is down there for college right now.

it's tough when you move away and start a new life as bad as you want to visit
more often theres work, kids ball games you get the picture.
my heart will always belong to KY.

hey justin allatoona is not a terrible lake 90% spotted bass aka ky's
10% lm. it's just like i said lack of structure. rocky shores and drop offs
are the only obvious although over the last two years the dnr have cut alot of trees that have helped the lm and spot for that matter. it's a flood control lake and every winter it is drawn down to very low level . in the late winter they start raising it' but about the time for lm to spawn rain comes and they drop it so popular opinion is eggs are left on dry land.
there are better explanations i'm sure but thats a ky. boys thoughts.
when your coming down give me a shout and i'll try to give you alittle help.oh there is a forum called dead sea mafia tell your brother about it
and he can stay read up on ALLATOONA AKA THE DEAD SEA LOL.
    nice to meet you. Tim

thanks mhall, come down anytime winter is best. when it warms up the jet magets are so thick you just wouldn't believe. i know all lakes have them but this one takes the cake. and they have no respect for anyone let alone safety rules. anyway thats a whole other topic. thanks for the welcome.
