    Bailout Complaints

I just read the post aout the bailed out Execs buying a new jet for their comfortable travel. I have also read many other complaints on Fishin.com and other sites, as well as on news outlets, and it seems like everyone in America is against these bailouts EXCEPT FOR THE PRESIDENT, THE SENATORS AND THE CONTRESSMEN.

I couldn't help but wonder how many of the people complaining about the bailouts (and other government actions) have actually voiced their complaints WHERE IT COUNTS, to the President, the Senators, and the Congressmen. From past experience, I know that **** few people have written to their representatives and voiced thier complaints.

I get emails all the time with complaints about various things, mostly political, and they end up saying "IF YOU AGREE FORWARD THIS IF NOT, DELETE." Nintynine out of a hundred of these emails never propose a solution to the problem nor have any recommendation of writing to our elected representatives or whomever is causing the probelm.

Let me tell you folks, forwarding or deleting an email AND MAKING A POST ON FISHIN.COM, never solved any problem either. If you want to complain about something our government/representatives do YOU HAVE TO COMPAIN TO THE PEOPLE THAT ARE CAUSING THE PROBLEM.

I personally believe that it is best to write an actual letter (snail mail) to them but the electonic age really makes it easy. Everyone reading this has access to the Internet, so here are the sites for contating the President, your Senators, and your Congressman. After you get to the sites below, you can either email or get the address to write to your electied officials. Your letter doesn't have to be long and involved, for that matter, short and to the point is best.

To contact the new President, click on the link below, then on CONTACT US.

    http://www.whitehouse.gov/

To contact your two Senators, click on the link below, then on SENATORS in the line towards the top of the page. You can look up your Senators and get their email or actual address from there:

    http://www.senate.gov/

To contact your Congressman, click on the link below, look at the top left of the page and you will see a place to enter you ZIP code under FIND YOUR REPRESENTATIVE; then you will get the info to email or write:

    http://www.house.gov/

AND, just in case anyone is wondering, I wrote letters to all of them before the election and again yesterday. I frequently hear or read about people saying that "they don't listen to us" but I am here to tell you that if enough people write to them THEY WILL LISTEN.

If you agree, copy and paste this to an email and foward it to all of your family and friends, if you disagree, well just keep on complaining and see how much good it does you.

    That's my opinion,

    Agreed, good post Grumpy...

I also think that an actual letter might get farther. I can only imagine the amount of emails that go to those addresses. Some intern is probably sorting through them I guess.

    Re: Bailout Complaints

Mr. Splitshot, you arre absolutely right that the President,Senator, or Congressman doesn't actually see or read the letters and emails. I have talked to Senators/Representatives enough to know that some office clerk is reading them and preparing a reply and using an Autopen to sign them. That is part of the reason why I said "short and to the point" is best.

HOWEVER, they do make a list of how many people write for or against a particular subject and the official sees that list periodicly. So the more tickmarks for or against something the better chance of getting it acted on.

What is frustrating, especially since the advent of computerized letter writing and auto-responses, is getting a stock reply/answer to a letter that does nothing more than restate what you wrote in the first place. Or worse yet, getting a reply that how absolutely nothing to do with what your wrote about. That being said, I still believe that writing letters/emails does work. It works much better than just complaining on Fishin.com or agreeing or deleting an email. Ron Lewis' clerk told me that they give much more weight/credence to actual letters than they do to email but that everrything is counted and listened to. (I had gone to his E-town office to complain about getting reply (from the Washington office) that had nothing to do with what I had written about.)
