Re: how is everyone fairing the weather....

I am one of the lucky ones. We never lost power, but were prepared with kerosene if we did. I haven't been stuck at home thanks to four wheel drive. I know a lot of people have it a lot worse and I consider myself lucky. The worst thing that happened to me was the liquor store by my house was closed for a couple of days.

Unhappy Re: how is everyone fairing the weather....

I have been trapped in my house more or less 36 hours straight with three women! No electric, no cable and no internet! We have gas heat, and I have a generator that was playing double duty of running the fan on my heat pump and Keeping the frig running..The kids have driven me nuts!! (8 and 12 year old girls can only play card games and build puzzles so long)
The power and cable came back up at 10:30 am and I have never been as happy!!! all and all we fared out good--we had food, heat and I got to use my Coleman stove, lanterns and grill a bunch--but we were better off than alot of folks! I think i figured out while the life expectancy was shorter back in the pioneer days!! The Men just couldn't take all that togetherness!!

Leaving Frankfort at this very moment with Explorer running about as fast as she will go to get you. No electric, no cable, no internet all that is ok to miss for 36 hours but to be stuck with those "3 Women" NO MAN DESERVES. Be right there. We are one of the very lucky ones for never lost power, lost satelite for only a couple of hours (luckily it was during the Uk game, but too bad I still watched it on my laptop with ESPN360 and they still get beat) and Explorer has gotten us anywhere we wanted to go. Feel bad for all of you that are having problems and hope they all get fixed SOON.

Here in central KY, we got Slammed. Ice everywhere, roads closed because of downed trees, Electric to part of the area is expected to be down up to THREE weeks!!! I lost power for Two days, but had a generator to run my Outside wood burner stove and fan inside the house. Also took care of the freezers and fridge. Sometimes (most) we forget just how blessed we truly are. Personally, all in all, we faired much better than most around us. Only two trees in my yard so not much clean-up.
Hope everyone comes thru this OK.

Yeah, my headaches started, literally, as I was driving home from work Monday. Got home and headache turned into cold chills and fever. From about6:30 PM Monday until about 3:00 AM Wednesday I was pretty much in bed the whole time unless I was running to the bathroom. Thats when I heard limbs falling all over the place and we lost power. Got it back this afternoon, so I'm not complaining but being sick as a dog in a cold house for a day and half can make a man cranky. Is it almost April yet?

Re: how is everyone fairing the weather....

Our power went out in Shepherdsville around 9:00 am yesterday, we got some ice and sleet and then a couple inches of snow, not that bad really. So I left work to get the generator at the farm in Eastview ( about 15 mls west of E-town) they got slammed , it looked like a tornado went thru there. power were down everywhere and there wasn't hardly a tree left that the top wasn't broke out of. Everything had a inch of ice on it, it was nasty. it will probably take 2 week's to get power back on. We passed a couple of gas station's that had kerosene and the wait was at a couple hour's. for those close by a friend of mine said the Keystop in leitchfield had just got a new supply in. I hope everyone make it thru this OK.

In northern kentucky the bellevue area, 4 to 5 inches on tuesday, ice tuesday night, 3 to 4 inchs wed. It is supposed to snow 1 inch friday, and possible another snow storm monday. I was told by a pilot who looked at the long range forecast that there are going to be 2 more snow storm this winter. When all the snow melts you will not be able to fish the mighty ohio in quite a while and all the lakes will be up and look like coffee.

You want me to "fish set" for you? Honestly, If it is a chore for you to get to Richmond I can keep them for you for a few days. And you can pick them back up when they get you up and running....I would hate for you to lose them?

thanks much for the offer but it is a bit annoying running from versailles to richmond but it gives me something to do to combat this cabin fever that is setting in and setting in quick.... i also like to check on everything else adn make sure no water lines are busted and also to check and see if power has been restored..... but i sure do appreciate the offer...
