State of emergency here in Owensboro (daviess co.). No power to about 3/4 of the population (including me). Kenergy says it might be 2-3 weeks before power is fully restored. Crappy situation to say the least. I have been coming into work since it started to scape snow and ice so the students on campus can get to the cafeteria. I just want to see some sun so the melting will commence. Wish us luck.

    Tyme2fish with an update from Greenville,Indiana 11:40 AM 1/29/2009

Lost power Wed at 3:15 PM: Lit the kerosene lanterns when dark fell. Reheated a big pot of vegetable stew on the basement wood stove.

Turned on the battery powered radio to listen to the Cards game while reading a book about President Lincoln "Team of Rivals" by lantern light and sitting close to the living room Buck stove.

Power restored at 8:30 PM. My 5+ hours of no power was enough pioneering for me.

I can't believe someone would do that. I have mine on my deck as far away from the house as possible. This thing is LOUD. Didn't get any sleep last night.

I am one of the lucky ones. We never lost power, but were prepared with kerosene if we did. I haven't been stuck at home thanks to four wheel drive. I know a lot of people have it a lot worse and I consider myself lucky. The worst thing that happened to me was the liquor store by my house was closed for a couple of days.

Unhappy Re: how is everyone fairing the weather....

I have been trapped in my house more or less 36 hours straight with three women! No electric, no cable and no internet! We have gas heat, and I have a generator that was playing double duty of running the fan on my heat pump and Keeping the frig running..The kids have driven me nuts!! (8 and 12 year old girls can only play card games and build puzzles so long)
The power and cable came back up at 10:30 am and I have never been as happy!!! all and all we fared out good--we had food, heat and I got to use my Coleman stove, lanterns and grill a bunch--but we were better off than alot of folks! I think i figured out while the life expectancy was shorter back in the pioneer days!! The Men just couldn't take all that togetherness!!

Leaving Frankfort at this very moment with Explorer running about as fast as she will go to get you. No electric, no cable, no internet all that is ok to miss for 36 hours but to be stuck with those "3 Women" NO MAN DESERVES. Be right there. We are one of the very lucky ones for never lost power, lost satelite for only a couple of hours (luckily it was during the Uk game, but too bad I still watched it on my laptop with ESPN360 and they still get beat) and Explorer has gotten us anywhere we wanted to go. Feel bad for all of you that are having problems and hope they all get fixed SOON.

You want me to "fish set" for you? Honestly, If it is a chore for you to get to Richmond I can keep them for you for a few days. And you can pick them back up when they get you up and running....I would hate for you to lose them?
