My advice is watch for stumps, their everywhere and be sure not to run over one going about 15mph ( not that i know or anything....) Serously their is alot of flooded timber, great bass lake and awsome for spring crappie bite?? Just get a map and work off of that, you know what to do.

I've had pretty good luck throwing top water poppers and powerbait lizards. The water got really really high last spring and I believe a lot of larger crappie will be caught this year, as for bass a lot of the normal weed beds really didn't grow well last year, but when you found new weeds you found a lot of fish. I guess the oxygen and water quality was slightly different around the new weeds, and it held the fish all last year.

Really fun lake but heavily pressured.

Good lake. I live in E-town and when I was 10-12 years old my dad and I would go there every weekend and camp out and fish for bluegill. This lake use to have some monster bluegill in it. It would be nothing to go out and catch 60 or more 9, 10 and 11 inch shellcrackers. If I remember correctly my dad and I caught over 10 shellcrackers 12" long in 2 years. I'm thirty now and those were the good old days.

One of the better lakes in Indiana besides Monroe Reservoir up close to Bloomington, IN.

The shad destroyed the gill and redear fishery. Sad.

Fish the grass areas in the spring. There are some hogs in there. Topwater, frog or spook, or run and rip a rattletrap in spring craw or red color.

Put in at South Lick Fork, fish right across from the dock in those two little coves, I've never left there without a keeper. 10 inch pumpkin seed lizzard, or black n blue chatter bait . Sink it , reel slow with a twitch, and like the other fellas said watch out for the timber

You're SOOOO right...........it USED to be a GREAT redear, bluegill and crappie lake. You can still catch some decent crappies, and some SERIOUS bass, but the bluegill and redear are all but gone.

AND every once in a while, you NAIL a monster striper, but I heard a ton of those died a couple years ago.........again too bad.

Finally...........maybe in the future, it will become a decent walleye lake

    Later,

    Geo

    Re: Patoka Lake Indiana

I've have made my mind up and I'm going to that Patoka lake this spring. I was speaking with one of the guys at BassPro and he stated that I wouldn't be disappointed. I live in Louisville and all I here is how great of a lake it is. I just never want to buy that Indiana lic and access pass. Can someone give some in site on the out of state lic and access pass. Another plus is that I can be there alot faster than I can get to Barren.
