Man.......we MUST not know how to fish.........

Talk about sucking it up.............it has been a REALLY brutal 3 days so far........

Nothing going.......we've caught a few fish..........VERY FEW fish. Tried the fly, tried jigs, etc, etc.........Nothing is working. AND you'd think we'd be tearing them up.

I don't know what the deal is, but I really hope we get into some tomorrow to basically save a BLOWN trip..........

Actually, any trip to DALE is a good trip, but man, this has been tough.

Oh well.......maybe we'll get them tomorrow.

    Later,

    Geo

Don't feel too bad George been a tough winter all around, personal opinion. Found a website the other day that had the lowest water levels of Dale Hollow EVER and the first week of December when it was 533 made it the 3rd lowest level in history. Water that low then, just now getting to a "normal" winter pool, water colder this time of year than I have ever seen it in the 5 years I been fishing the Holler and no wonder the fish are messed up. Keep at them, you will bump into one good 5lber and the trip will be made, one good 5lber apiece even better and one good 6 lber and one of the best trips of your life. Just takes one cast to make a trip, at least that is my thinking on every cast at the Holler. Elnut

I agree with Elnut, one or two good fish and you're into an excellent trip. I heard Bill Dancne quote Ernest Hemmingway just few minutes ago; "A fishing trip isn't measured by the number or size of the fish caught, but rather the memories made". I suspect you've made some great memories of this trip to Dale Hollow; wish I was there!

it aint that u dont know how to fish geo its that the ole hollow thinks u need some schoolin.... lol here is a game plan for u tommorrow if u are still up and reading this.. i am goin to try and help u scratch out some fish..... run down into tennessee and fish around first island in the cuts adn creeks on the south end of the lake there is a big flat at the mouth of the one on your left if u are going towards the dam... its called stillhouse... put a fnf on with about a 12 foot learder.... use a blue white adn char craft hair.....mat the hair so its mute.... fish down the left side of the cove then fire up and go towards first island and there is another small creek on your left fish down the left side of it the right side is the non channel side... if its sunny get on the shady side.... then if that dont work fish phillips bottom around trooper island from the power lines all the way up to the end of that bluff wall almost back to the state dock... if they aint biting there trailer up and come on home.... call it 10 say u had a good time seen a few bald eagles and some wild turkeys..... but thats what i would do to try and scratch some out...

Forgot to mention that you and Mark are still the same 2 fellas that finished 2nd in the Smalljaw tourney, was .01 of having big fish on day 2, and had the tourney winning fish and big fish on day 1 shrink up just under the 21" line on day 1. Should have won the tourney, had big fish both days, day 2 .01 could have been the water in the basket by the way. I know you both know how to fish so keep your head up.

    Thanks buddy.........

Today was the worse of all the days.............only 2 bites, maybe a 3rd, and no hookups............REALLY, REALLY quick bites, but no fish.

Oh well..........it was still fun to fish, and will back in the very near future.

    Geo
