I've used the $100 Revo and the $200 Revo and I really liked both of them. They were very smooth and have held up very well so far.

Looking to get one of the blackmax bait cast for knocking around on the river and a revo for the boat. Anybody ever used these two reels looking for any info from anybody that has used them.

i have two of the revo pemiers and they are great very smooth and cast well. i bought the $100 revo for my wife and she likes it as well.
I've used a few of the Revo-S for the last couple of years and picked up a Revo-SX last spring. All have worked well. The S model I use for LM and SM. The SX is on my jig rod for stripers. Smooth drag and no problems with striper to the upper teens. All of them cast well. No problems so far. Not familar with the blackmax ones so cannot comment on them.

IMHO, the Revo SX is the best reel for the money. I have three and LOVE them, they have handled really well from bass to accidently catching Muskie. They cast like a dream and handle awesome. The Max reels are definitly a step down, sometimes 2 steps. But you get what you pay for, and that is very much true on Fishing Reels as well.
I used to be a Curado fanatic till I bought two sx's last March. I absolutely love these reels. Getting ready to add two more in a couple weeks.
I have used revo s reels for a bit over a year now and have been crazily pleased by their performance. I actually bought an sx and returned it and got another s. I didn't feel like the magnetic brake functioned consistently but then again I really didn't give it a full trial, so I may be speaking out of my butt. I'd say spend the extra cash and grab the revo s instead of the maxx series. Wal-Mart in Glasgow still has them for 99.99 I believe.
Thanks for the replies, I looking at buying a revo and a blackmax, the max was going to be for walking rocky river banks with so if I fell and hit the reel on some rocks I would not feel sick to my stomach as to falling with a revo in hand, busted up one of my st croix rods that way creek fishing. The revo was going to be one of the rigs to stay strictly in the boat. I was looking at the max or the daiwa strike force for shore fishing.
AJ at Anglers Outpost turned me on to the Revo-S last year and I love it. I have reels from $75 to $400 and it has become my favorite reel. Thank you AJ for talking me into saving money and get a great reel.
I have both and love the SX. Also the blackmax is probably the best cheap baitcaster on the market. For 50 or 60 bucks you just can't beat it for knocking around as you say, that's exactly what I bought mine for. I just don't think you can go wrong with ABU'S, however they are being made in China now, URGGGG.
On your black max what is the lightest lure you can cast with it and what kind of line do you use. I was or probably going to get the max for wade fishing for smallies. As for the revo I am sure I could throw an eighth ounce with it. ThanksI have both and love the SX. Also the blackmax is probably the best cheap baitcaster on the market. Haven't really tried anything real light yet? I'd say it could be done though, but I wouldn't expect too much on cast distance..
