    Changing crankbaits

What is the quickest way to change a crankbait on your rod? And will the crankbait run true with the method. I'm trying to not have so many rods all over the boat. And advise will be helpful.

    Thanks

use a polymer knot it is a quick and good knot to use. there must be a reason why you dont see pros use clips, what it is i dont know. but for me i have more proublems with clipping and unclipping then i do just retying.

    Re: Changing crankbaits

For monofilament all you need is a nailclipper on a retractable lanyard, polamar knot, spit, and teeth or clipper to cut tag end shorter. In 15 seconds or less you're done. You just want to have somewhere to drop the bait you removed and at end of day restore them into your box(es). a clip is handy, but taking the time to retie a knot is much better than avoiding the knot (its the weakest link). Plus you should be checking line knicks and retying often with a crankbait if its digging bottom anyway.

I tried a swivel and did not like the difference in the crankbait, not that im an expert. I like to retie also fishing in the brush and riprap will leave knicks in your line.

The way its looking, I need to start tying my crankbaits faster. When I do use snaps, I don't pay as much attention to my line.

Do what I do and just keep 3-4 rods on the deck with crankbaits tied on.
Naw, like you said putting a new one on is quick.

    Re: Changing crankbaits

The best way is to just re-tie. Like someone else said, if you're worried about time the best way is to have 3 or 4 crank rods rigged up. Next time the BPS Crankin Stick goes on sale for $39 just by a couple and have them rigged up.

    Re: Changing crankbaits

    yep...retie.
I do usually have two or more rods already rigged like others.
Snaps and swivels dampen the action IMHO

    Re: Changing crankbaits

Improved clinch/cinch (spelling) and throw Bandit crankbaits they seem to run great right out of the package almost everytime. Normans are the worst for me, it seems I always have to tune them and they seem so finicky to me.

This is the fastest I have found to change lures and keep fishing, Retie and leave the speed clips for the kids' lures
