    Surviving Here

Just wanted to say a big Thanks to everyone that contacted me to see if me and my family needed anything after this mess we have here in western Kentucky.

My power is still out....so is cable etc....saying may be out for weeks. I finally got online today for a little bit with my laptop and Fisherman's HQ in Draffenville which got power back a couple of days ago.

I am going to try to get a report out tomorrow with more details about what is going on down here. Please call me if you want to contact me....my email is touch and go right now and I have to travel to make it happen. 270-354-5039

If you were scheduled for a class with me and have not heard from me...please call me....my classes are suspended until this is over...but I do not have access to some of the folks that were scheduled phone numbers as they are on my main computer which has no power.

There is no truth in the rumor started by Col Forbin that I have a generator...LOL. We have a fire place, plenty of wood, food, camp stoves and lights.

There are over 1500 power poles on the ground here in Marshall County.....please if you have business here fine...but if you are sight seeing....go somewhere else...we need to keep the roads clear here to let the power folks, National Guard and other emergency folks do their job. Note: Benton and Draffenville have power, it is those of us that live out in the county that are without.

Please say a prayer for those that are in need here.....these have been some cold nights for a lot of folks down here.

    Dave

P.S. I have to travel to get online so I will be on here when I can from day to day.

Dave if you need a generator I have one, and can come and hook it up. Get some heat in your house.

    Dave,
Just for quick info for those out there that need some help. My father is Heading up a food kitchin and a bath house for those that need to get a hot meal and a hot shower. Its all free and threw the church. This is in Trigg county. Cadiz across the street from Cadiz bank. So if anyone knows anyone in that area that is with out you can pass that info on to them. Also say hi to Robert Davis. He is doing this because he cares and nothing more. He is a good man. We need more like him. God bless everyone.

    Re: Surviving Here

I feel your pain! We live less than 5 blocks from the city square in Leitchfield and were without power until Sunday night. I feel fortunate that I don't live out in the country or down by the lakes. They say it may be another month before they see power. The ones I have talked to had to cut their own way out because the county stopped at the end of the county roads. We've got to pray for those guys because most don't have anywhere else to go and don't want to leave their belongings behind. We have already heard of a lot of generators being stolen.

    Re: Surviving Here

Sorry about that Dave, I talked to several people that day to see if they needed to seek some refuge here. I figured you had a generator hooked up to your karaoke set up keeping the family entertained with your Neil Diamond renditions. LOL!!! Glad to hear Marshall county is slowly going in the right direction. We are trying to get school started back on Monday, but it may be a stretch - probably more of a time to allow some kids the opportunity for a hot shower, and hot meals than instruction. Good luck to you, and if you need anything from the liquor, er - I mean grocery store, let me know. But seriously, if you need me to run out there and help cut some wood let me know.

    Guys:
Thanks for all your offers of assistance and prayers. We are doing ok right now...kind of like an extended winter camping trip...LOL. I will certainly keep you folks in mind with your offers and if needed I will contact you. It definitely makes one feel good to know there are so many folks out there willing to lend a hand. I don't know about you guys but I am ready for some warm weather and some good spring fishing.

I just got some pics from a buddy that lives in the Calvert area, devestating to say the least. I vever would haver imagined that kind of damage. we had nothing compared to that here in the Lex area.
Hope all is getting better sooner than later.
