    Re: Ky lake water conditions?

Since I am in the middle of the mess down here let me say this.....no need to not come down and fish if you get the chance and the weather cooperates. Just understand that the area is very busy with storm cleanup, especially on U.S.68 where I live on the Ky Lake side...and in Lyon County (Kuttawa). Some area businesses are open around the lake and many are not. Fisherman's HQ in Draffenville is back open if you need some lures...they are stocking the latest lures coming in daily right now. I would however be prepared for possible delays around the lake as power companies are closing and opening the roads at times now to get us back up and running with power. Not sure what the roads on the LBL down the ramps look like...lots of trees came down here in the storm...good idea about Fenton Ramp...would not hit the back country ramps right now unless you have proof positive word the roads there are open. I am sure those businesses that are open would appreciate the business...a lot of money has been lost with this storm, just be aware of what is going on around you...also the search for the bodies of two remaining young duck hunters has resumed around the Little Bear area so please be especially watchful and careful not to impede the search in that area.

There are still quite a bit without power now, however, it is almost business as usual here in marshall county. We are back in school, and most businesses are open, but there are still over 5,000 homes without power in marshall county. It was crazy here the last couple of weeks - like a scene from Mad Max. Yes, the sounds of chainsaws in stereo still echo in my head, even when I sleep.

I went to KY Lake yesterday. It was the weirdest thing...when driving there I noticed that once you got within about a 1/2 mile from the lake (east side) it appeared that hardly a tree had been scratched by the ice storm. It appeared to be this way from the 68 bridge all the way to Blockhouse. The only thing I could figure is that the wind was blowing from the west to the east during the ice storm and picked up the "warmth" of the lake which warmed the area around that part of LBL enough to keep the ice to a minimum. Of course, I could be 100% wrong. LOL

Anyway, like Dave said, please don't abandon those business owners over by the lakes. It's getting close to their money-making time of year and they need your support.

My partner and I noticed the same, no damage around lake on north east side. Thought there might be a ton of new laydowns. Not so. We only had 2 short fish. Water stained @ 42-43 degrees.

Yes, very strange. All the way from Barkley bridge to the bridge over the Trace it was pure destruction and then, 1/2 mile from the ramp there was nothing.
