Thats not the first one of those i have heard of doing that. A friend of mine has a 225 proxs and it has done this too. Guess ya hafta carry spares huh?
Somethin ain't right though, there is a cause for the fuse blowing. I would have it checked.

i went to dale on sunday and fished for a bit... i only had 2 which came on back to back casts within the first 30 minutes of being at the lake... one was about a 17 inch brownfish and a 20 inch brownfish.... and they came off the fly.... the water was still around 41 degrees but it was a beautiful day... I have never had this happen to me though... i cranked up and went wide open down the lake throwing a roost... then booom beeeep powerdown..... uh oh.. brand new pro xs this cant be good is what i was thinkin.... well dad was with me and he was beside himself cause he thought i blew the motor and apparently telling him that it has a 5 year warranty dont help things... but when u would crank it blue smoke would come out adn the motor would rattle.... finally i figured out that i blew a fuse on the motor... even after i did i had to get dad back for all the grounding and whipping and such i got as a kid so i played it for a few minutes... dad was done mad now he is kinda uptight about things and i am pretty laid back.... he was getting ready to start trolling back to the dock and i told him we blew a fuse...and i was digging for a fuse and it was then my fault that we didnt have spare fuses so i had to take the aerator fuse out adn put it on the motor so we could continue fishing... and the motor cranked and ran just fine.... i have not a clue what made that fuse blow but it sure did... it was just one of them days.....

That is what you get Ryan for buying a Mercury. Got one, hate it and won't have another. Nothing but Yamaha's for me from now on. Had nothing but trouble out of mine for the first 3 years I had her and luckily I had purchased the extended warranty for it would have cost me $1000's and $1000's to fix all the crap that went bad. Glad you got it fixed and at least caught a couple. From what I have heard from others on the water this past weekend, a couple would have been the mother load to them.
Hey Ryan, Yamaha's actually running a good deal offering a 3 year "YES" warranty, or up to $2000 in free accessories with the purchase of a new one now. Might be a good time to unload that Mercury and get in on the quality of the YammyYou can access them through the www.armybassanglers.com website and see the current deals you get from them. Good luck man and don't think my wife wouldn't second your dad's "whippings, groundings, and such"
She still ain't let me live that call down, nor the fact we haven't fished together yet after all that....LMAO Take care.

Yeah,
I went down there Sunday and skunked up the hole place. Couldn't figure out the right depth. Fished some deep banks and then went to the flats with no luck. A beautiful day to be out on the lake. Better luck next time.
