As long as the line guide is moving back and forth, it probably isn't the reel. Sometimes, line will start to do that and it is barely noticeable at first, and the more line you put on the worse it will get. The line will catch on another line on the spool, and it will keep it from moving to the other side of the spool as quick. Sometimes I use my finger to keep the new line from staying on one side until it looks even, then the line guide will do its job and keep it even. Just start off slow, until you have a 1/4 inch of line on there even then speed it up.

    Thumbs up Re: spooling question???

Its the make of the reels. Some of Shimano's older Chronarchs have the same problem -- spooling more line on the left-hand portion of the spool. I used to have this problem, and other than ugly, it doesn't seem to affect casting that much. If you love those reels and can put up with the eyesore, keep em. However, I traded in Chronarchs for some Curados and haven't experienced the problem since.

    Re: spooling question???

Try putting some lubrication where the line guide moves.....i had this problem and put some of the hot sauce in it and it kept it from sticking on one side...may not be the problem but its worth a shot

    Re: spooling question???

try cleaning the reel, especially the bar that the guide travels. I had similar problems last year, not a huge problem but I did notice more line in the center than on the edges after spooling. I cleaned the reel totally and found a bunch of "gunk" build up on the edges of the bar that it traveled. My guess is that it was not allowing it to go all the way over on either side. Since it spools evenly across the board.

Something else you might try is to loosen the brake. It works for me.

usually happens when the pawl and worm gear are worn but on a new reel that should not be the case... clean the worm gear and pawl and sparingly apply hot sauce grease

    Re: spooling question???

thanks for the info guys, ill clean them up and apply some lube and see if it helps and try to use my fingers to even the line out.

i dont mind that it looks crappy on the revo cause the reel still performs well but the pluger seems to be affected by it and i will be replacing that reel with another revo premier as soon as possible.
