    Re: Newsweek Magazine Cover

GeoFisher, I agree that we need to unite to combat the tide of big government. The funny thing is that our churches and religious organizations are totally silent, even when it comes to the government and the courts taking God out of everything we have. They should be yelling their heads off instead of letting a minority of Athiests run God out of the country.

Below is part of any article I wrote several years ago for the Fort Knox newspaper and says what I feel about the lack of involvement of your churches and religious organizations:

"What I really do not understand is why our churches and religious organizations are allowing this to happen. Now, I will grant you that I don’t go to church and I do not watch religious programs on TV (except for occasional spots while channel surfing); so I may have missed something, but I don’t think so.

I read two daily newspapers, receive three weekly news magazines, and I am a “web surfer” of several on-line news and information sites but I have yet to see a major effort by any religious organization to counteract the atheistic campaign to rid our society of God and any mention of Him in public.

Yes, there have been some court challenges to the anti-God onslaught as well as local churches and even individual attempts, such as Judge Roy Moore in Alabama, to protect the display of our religious symbols in public; however, I have yet to see any religious organization challenge their congregations to form a political movement to reverse the anti-God and anti-religion trend. I just do not understand why our religious leaders are so silent on this issue.

Perhaps they are afraid that if they publicly denounce the erroneous “separation of church and state” movement, they will be seen as meddling in politics and thus loose their tax-exempt status as religious organizations. Even if that were to happen, I think it would be far better for them to pay taxes now than to eventually not have anything left to pay taxes on!!"

I honestly think it would be better for our churches and religious organizations to give up their tax exampt status, pay thier taxes, and start speaking out about what is wrong in this country.

Also, as to them paying or not paying taxes, I look for the Liberals to try to tax the reglgious organizations pretty soon anyhow. They think that is where a lot of the money is and will go after it.

Sorry this is so long, but that is my opinion.

    Re: Newsweek Magazine Cover

You know..............My daughter turned 18 last summer, and I told her it was her civic duty to be INFORMED, and understand our political system AND her rights as a voter.

She watched both conventions, all the debates, and EVERY CNN, FOX, MSNBC, etc, etc, etc, show, and lots of web stuff........

AND she made here OWN mind up about how to vote, and I was really proud of her for taking the time to become involved...

WHAT I really HATE is the fact that when she showed her pride and VALUES by wearing buttons, or having bumper stickers on her car, she was ridiculed by not only students, but by TEACHERS.

AND what is even MORE apparent, is that she is MORE informed than most of HER TEACHERS at the high school level.

She played a rather good joke on her LIBERAL government teacher, and man was he REALLY HONKED OFF. She got him to answer some questions about some really STUPID THINGS that were said on the campaign trail.........Now granted he was doing this in public in CLASS, trying to bash McCain and Palin, but my daughter turned it around, dumped some video of Biden and Obama to her phone, and when she was called on in class, and BASICALLY called a LIAR by him, she showed him her phone and asked for a public apology in FRONT of th CLASS.

He is an honorable man, and did, and told her he was sorry, and then actually THANKED her for being so informed.

    Pretty COOL.

    GEO
