    Re: Float and Fly

I tried this setup about two weeks ago at Dale, didn't catch a fish. I do feel that if the weather had been better I would had a few hookups(no wind, too much sun). Cant wait to get to the lake and give it another try. I watched the videos on this site and read some good information here, felt confident to give it a try. After throwing the rig a few times, its not as bad as some may say. Give it a try.

Personally, I think it is a joke and anyone that thinks they can catch fish on it needs to be checked out by a Liscensed Psychiatrist. Fish don't bite when the water is that cold, and if they did, they sure would not eat some little 1/16th oz jig. Save your money, keep you boat winterized, climb a tree stand all winter and start fishing when Buzzking starts and that is when shorts and tank tops are in. Just my opinion, the FNF is way over-rated, almost as over-rated as the UK Basketball coach

Great technique......takes a while to get used to casting the long leader. Also, bites are few and far between. You may only get a few bites, if you're lucky, over the course of the entire day so make them count! If you find smallmouth stacked up on a ledge, probably a 1 in 30 chance when its this cold out, you're in for a fight. I usually try and go when there is enough wind to give the little jig some wave action so it looks like its swimming.
