Any idea what's up with the stripers on CL???

I was wondering if anyone has done any good on the stripers at CL lately, cause heaven knows I haven't! I know the water is up and muddy in some spots, but the stripers have to be feeding somewhere. The last three trips I've made for stripers, we've skunked! That's rough, especially when you are driving up from Bowling Green. Just was wondering if you all are having a rough time too, or if I'm just cursed.

They are red hot right now if you find them. Killed them Friday and this morning. (wasn't allowed to fish yesterday) LOL. Thanks Al, if you see this!

How are you guys catching them? Downriggers or planer boards?

Was down there Sunday. I wasn't fishing for them but a boat came in that had a couple that went into the 30lb range. Don't know how they were fishing

I think this is what happened:
    a. First, a bunch of them loaded up and went to the boat show to see what kinda rigs would be chasing them this year.
    b. Then, they got caught in the bad weather, with power out and roads icey, and just hung around to see the Auto Show this week.

With those events behind us, I project fishing will be great sometime in the near future, probably right after the economic stimulus kicks in, people get jobs again, and can afford to buy good quality shad for bait, instead of fishing with the left over chicken from the basement refrigerator.

RE" Basement chicken: I even tried thawing it, then cutting the breasts carefully into shapes that looked like gizzard shads. Then, I took the cut shapes and stored them in a big garbage bag with 12 pairs of my old, used gym socks, so the baits would smell like shad. Left it sit 2 weeks, and right after the wife left me, I tried them out. Drug under planer boards with light weights 40 feet back from the boards, I worked points and channel breaks. Only thing I caught was a Drum that had a beer can stuck halfway down his throat. I pretty sure the only reason I caught him was cause he was either drunk, or because he missed the bus to the boat show.
