    Nolin river lake drawdown

I see they draw Nolin down 25' in the winter. Does anyone know when it will get back to summer pool? Can you get at ramps etc. when its 25' down? Going to be down there end of March and wondered what it is going to be like.

    Thanks

You can still launch at Wax, but not Dog Creek at Winter pool. Not sure about the rest of the ramps, someone on here who fishes it more could probably tell you. I think the target date for summer pool is either March 15 or April 15th.

Moutardier Ramp is safe to put in at as well...Even though the lake is down 25'. it's still a blast to fish while it's down during winter pool. April 15th. is the target date for the Corps to have it raised back to summer pool if nothing goes wrong. Last year we got 6" of snow the third week of March and then it rained just after that and by the end of March the lake was 8' above summer pool and kinda ruined the spring fishing for me.

Cool Re: Nolin river lake drawdown

At winter pool if you don't know Nolin i would put in at Moutardier Ramp wax is too far up the river and not much water there.March 15 they start too let it fill up and if it rains can get too summer pool fast but is it don't then it may take a few weeks.Terry Adolph

Thanks guys. that helps a lot. I'll keep an eye out on the Corps website for water levels.

I was over at the dam a few days ago and the ramp was closed. It could have been because of downed trees and now open. I would stay away from wax because of low water danger. Play it safe. The crappie bite should start to pick up soon I would think.

Briar Creek ramp is accessable @ winter pool. No courtesy dock. I love the lake @ winter pool.
