Still sounds like you had a great vacation getting into some crappie. Just being away helps me calm myself.

Well let me just start by saying that fishing for us sucked. It's all relative but when you go to Fl.and don't catch a fish over four pounds it sucked. We started by fishing lake walk in water which used to be an awesome lake but has gone downhill after the hurricane ripped all the hydrila out of the lake and it has not come back. We also went to Crooked creek, kissimmii river and the lake. The weather was all we could ask for this time of year it was mostly in the high 70's with lowes in the mid to upper 50's. Water temp got to 65 while we were there it just wasn't there for long enough while we were there. The bucks started moving up while we were there but we could never find where the big dogs were hanging at. We have been going there for the last 12 years or so about this time and this was by far the worse trip we had. There was a group within us that only went crappie fishing and the cought a bunch, I think they ended up with 45 bags to bring home. We were there for that elusive 10 pounder and it is going to have till wait until next year to get cought by us. While we were there someone from KY cought a 13.25 pounder out of Kissimmii lake on Sat. on a shiner. Oh well we didn't have high wind and power outages like around here but overall I was let down by the trip, the only thing was it was time spent with friends and that is pretty important in itself. Maybe I can get into some nice bass here this year and I can always look forward to going back to FL. next year to try it all over again. Just wanted to give an update and hope everyone is doing well around here.

We had a similar trip down to Okechobee a couple years ago. They had the lake drawn down because they were expecting a big hurricane season and we did bad to say the least. I caught like 12 in 3 days of fishing, but only one bass. A lot of mudfish and gar which were a fun fight, but I did manage to catch a giant crappie, over 2 pounds.
Man those Florida Bass can humble the best of us. At least you got the dose of good weather to hold you over until Spring!
Thanks for the report BigRod. I am heading down to stick marsh Friday morning, Hopefully we fare a little better as far as the fishing goes...I'll post a full report when we return.
