    Talking Gunthersville

Got invited to a Guntersville trip at the end of March, man this is going to be sweet. I have never been there, but I know its one of the best lakes in the country, and I am excited as hell. Have any of you guys been down there that time of year, just wandering what to expect as far as weather, patterns, what size of fish are common down there, I have heard that a 5lb bass is common, and you can catch all the 3-5lb bass you can handle. I know that alot of people throw rattletraps, ripping them out of the grass, and flipping tubes in the hydrilla is another great pattern. Just looking for some insight on what to expect when I get there. Man its going to be fun, and I cant wait to go.

After following the FLW tourney last week it is quite obvious that rattlebaits in the grass are the way to go right now. Not sure how long that holds up though. I am going down there in May for the first time and don't know what to expect. Good luck and when you go, be sure and give us a report.

I'm going down at the end of this month to fish a BFL as a co-angler. Hopefully I will learn a think or two about G-ville. This will be the first time I fished it during the prespawn. I'm also going back for 4 days at the first of April. If you're going at the end of March I think the spinnerbait bite is a little more prodominent than the rattle bait bite. Most of the bass will be in post spawn feeding on shad. However, you never know what they want until you get there and find out. They might not touch a spinnerbait, they may prefer one-eyed willy wigglers instead. Hope you have a great trip.

Dont trick yourself into thinking it will be easy !Kinda like looking for a needle in a VERY BIG HAYSTACK but if you find them it can be awsome . The pro's make it look so easy , but they put alot of time in finding those fish..............

Amen to THAT! There is so much grass. The key is - what is the grass near (humps, dropoffs, wood, etc.)

We are staying at the Days Inn in Scottsboro. Maybe we can meet up, and you can show me how to catch them!

You can expect nice cool temps in the Am warming up towards noon and slaying the fish all day long or you can have great weather and struggle to find them at all. Also there may be a cold front like two years ago when it was like 40 degress and 30 mph winds that mad life a living he-- on the water. The weather may start out great and get better or vis versa. Will be there the same time as Ranger19 staying in the same area he is. Fish traps in the grass, dead ringers and c-rig lizards have all worked every year for us. Don't forget peecock color senkos if you can find them. One year that is all we could catch them on and then the next year I bout 25 packs. I still have 24 left ...LOL Good luck and you'll have a blast.

Fish around the islands up around scottsboro and you'll do fine.
