March 28, 2009 - Tournament Results

The 2009 USA Bassin Green River Lake division got underway with a strong first tournament. In keeping with recent tradition, the weather man missed the mark again calling for rain and storms. Instead, 16 teams saw a little rain early, but a beautiful sunny afternoon. The fish appeared to appreciate the weather as well as several nice weights were brought to the scales. All but one team weighed in fish and most caught limits. We saw plenty of Smallmouth, Largemouth and Spotted Bass. One team brought in a monstrous 4.71 Spotted bass, the largest many of us had ever seen, but it was only the third largest fish brought in.

The team of Gabehart and Fees found the largest limit to win the tournament. They brought in a very nice 17.61 pound sack anchored by a healthy 5.15 pound largemouth. They reported catching their fish on spinnerbaits on the main lake. They didn't get many hits, but the ones they did get were good.

The big fish of the tournament was a monstrous 7.99 pound largemouth caught by the team of Morgan and Cone. It was the biggest fish ever weighed in at a USA Bassin Green River Lake event. It ate a spinnerbait on a main lake gravel bank in 6 feet of water.

Our next event is on April 18 and we expect another big weigh in. Generally, Green River Lake is at its best in March and
April. We look forward to seeing everyone again and hope to see a few new faces!
