    Re: Fishin.com get-together???

First of all I never quit flirting with the nurses (just don't tell Mrs. Elnutsmalljaws) but I have given up the hospital food forever (or at least until next time, which ever comes first).

    Get together thoughts:

Assign a "Master of Ceremonies", have them collect $20 per person that plans on attending in advance to cover food and door prizes. The more food we get donated the more of the money goes to the door prizes. Keep the food simple to burgers, dogs, chips, cole slaw, drinks, paper plates, plastic wear, cookies as to let the "Chefs" participate in the tourney if they want. Have a tourney from safe light to 4pm, then have the weigh in and give out door prizes while the "chefs" do their thing, then eat and be merry. Tourney entry fee $25 per boat, payback $25 for 3rd, $50 for 2nd, and the rest for 1st (plus bragging rights until the next get together). Get a list of those interested and decide on the lake after we see where most of the people interested in attending live. For example if the majority live around Ky and Barkley then maybe that is the place, or if the majority live in Lexington or surrounding then maybe Cedar or Herrington is the place, south then that brings into play Green or Cumberland, Louisville then maybe Barren River.

I suggest April 4th as the date with money due into the "Master" by March 21. Late entries after march 21 pay an extra $5 just because money that will go into the Food/Door Prize pool. We try and get people to donate items both food and other stuff to help out. I have a pretty good relationship with one particular fella that owns a lure company that I know I can get to help out with some donations plus let me buy a bunch of stuff at cost. If DC Chopper can get some meat donated and I know a fella that has a buddy that works for Frito Lay and maybe we can get some discounts or free stuff from them as well. I will even get with some of the guides that I know and maybe get a dicounted guide trip donated or free trip donated by somebody if possible.

My 1/4 cents worth so lets go:

April 4th, who wants to do it on this day and if so where are you located at.

I am in with my buddy Cliff (he don't know it yet) but even if he can't then I will find somebody to fish with. I live in Central Ky but will travel wherever.

    Whos next.............

These are all suggestions but if we are going to do this then we need to get it started and make some final decision on price, door prizes and such pretty quick.

    Cool Re: Fishin.com get-together???

Wow $20 for food and then $25 for the tournament we better do it at a state park so i can stay the night(lol)Humm why even do a cookout there is a lodge at Barren and Rough that we could eat at after a cheaper tournament than $25 so the kids could fish too.Just my Thoughts.

    Re: Fishin.com get-together???

Let the bashing begin! I was at the first "get-together" at the Barren tailwaters, I was told that we would meet there in the campground starting on Friday. I brought cookers, fish, supplies etc. thinking I may get a little help on having this outing. Jim D and his nephew were the only one's there.
After the fact of the original post it turn'ed into a Bass tourney. Now keep in mind this is Fishin.com not BASS RULE CENTRAL. Beleive it or not some of us fish for other species.
Then to top it off after the weigh in at the ramp several of you left and never even came to the "get-together" you know who you are.
For the one's that did we had a very nice time and it was nice to put names with faces, but I think from reading this thread that very few understand that this was to be a "get-together" not a full out tournament.
I will not be there unless the format is changed!

    Re: Fishin.com get-together???

We have a empty house at the entrance to the Dale Hollow lake state park, could park 4 maybe 5 rigs in there, if someone wants to put together a campout and or get together,
for a few dollars I can get the ele. turned on its just an old farm house that our renters
have gutted but its handy and clean. If someone wants to do all the leg work let me know its free and available
