You should be hitting Santee just about right. I live close and have fished it 5 times in the last 3 weeks. Water temps are a little cold yet. Some big fish are starting to show up but the bulk of the biggun's have not moved in yet. Our weather has been inconsistent, the surface temps keep going up but get knocked back down with weekly cold fronts.
Drop me a PM before you come down and will give you the lowdown.

I think I'll just go out in the garage with the portable TV, wick up the fishin-channel, crack open some beers, and invite some freinds over to burn steaks and pitch darts. Figure we can dream up more lies then we could ever catch fish, will save gas money, and probably won't lose any lures in the process.

May......Guntersville
Late April early May, Gulf Coast around Pensacola. Crack of dawn, bucket of live sand fleas and POMPANO!! Once the sun comes up a bit, hop on the boat or put on my vest and helmet and get on the pier watching for COBES! With my cobe rod nearby and jig tied on, dropping live shrimp around the pilings for sheepshead on light tackle. Maybe another light rod rigged up with a gotcha for the first run of spanish macks. CANT WAIT!
Heading to the big G at the end of the month, and man I am pumped, have never been there, but by all accounts, it should be a blast, and I am very much looking forward to a week of slamming some nice bass.
