I still think that there is something drasticly wrong with our priorites in America, when a person that teaches college kids to play basekball is paid far more than the President and legislators that govern our country make. Perhaps, if we paid the President and our Legislators what they are really worth for the importance of the jobs they are doing, AND NOT LET THEM TAKE ANY OTHER MONEY FROM SPECIAL INTERESTS, we could get them to pass laws that are in the best interest of ALL TH E PEOPLE.

Yeah, I know I am urinating into the wind, but that is the way I feel.

I agree with both sides. You should pay the teachers more. But you would have to have them pass a certification every year. My wife is a former teacher ( now the Liberian) and she says some of the teachers can't even speak proper English. She has seen many teachers cuss and many other things that parents would be in shock if they knew that was in the class room.

Yes that is a lot of money that they are paying coaches. But if the coach were to preform like some of the teachers they would be fired the first or second year, unless you are Kragthorp!

I bet if UCONN wins the NCAA tournament basketball will bring in more than million.

Out of that 12 million that is brought in; how much of it goes back to basketball? Do any other students benefit from that money?

athletes make entirely too much money for what they do, no doubt. But the losers in government of any type imo don't deserve half what they make.

How about doctors they save your life, and don't make a 10th of the money tiger does, for chasing a ball around

Also how about the military men and women away from there families for years at a time, risking their lives, for what somebody else says is important, average pay is probably under 30,000 a year

I am not sure how it works at UConn, but I know a little about how it works at U of L and it is probably similar. The money that is brought is designated to the athletic department. At most schools, football and mens basketball are the big revenue producers, but all of that money is spent throughout the athletic department. It also goes to fund non revenue sports, like soccer, field hockey etc. A little of the money may go to the general fund of a University, I am not sure on that.

What most schools will tell you is that athletics gets the school a lot of free advertising on tv, radio and such which is worth millions to the school.
