OMG, please one of you smart liberals tell why the hell we would do that right now given our present state. I consider myself a "smart liberal" (and no, that's not an oxymoron ), but I got nothin'. Go ahead and kick him once for me:

The money, which needs U.S. congressional approval, will be distributed through U.N. and other bodies and not via the militant group Hamas, which rules Gaza, said one official.

"This money is for Gaza and to help strengthen the Palestinian Authority. It is not going to go to Hamas," said the official, who asked not to be named as Secretary of State Hillary Clinton planned to announce the funding at a donors' conference in Egypt next week..."

This, of course, ignores the fact that the Palestinian Authority has little or no power in Gaza. Aid meant for civilians in Gaza is constantly being seized by Hamas, and it's the height of naivete to think anything different is going to happen to what we send. The one slightly comforting thing I read while checking this out was this, from Newsmax.com:
"Clinton's bid to get "substantial" funds could face an uphill battle in Congress because Hamas continues to rule Gaza and the U.S. focus is on its own souring economy." So maybe Congress will block it... maybe.
