Saddest thing about this is that we will spend all that money to rebuild what Israel will knock down again the next time those idiots throw rockets into Israel....makes about as much sense as Bush running us into bankruptcy spending money to rebuild Iraq. None of this is new...we have thrown money all over the world for decades and see what it has gotten us.....not a darn thing.

Well, I certainly would not consider myself one of Obama’s biggest fans, but I’ll take a stab at it.

Couple things to consider. First off, the whole Israel/Palestine thing is complex. Probably more so than any of us here have a clue about. Israel was set up after WW2. I don’t think many of the locals in the area had a choice in the matter. Palestinians have never had their own state, but want one. The US has generally supported Israel in many disagreements in the region, dissing a number of other countries in the process. Part of the reason that al Quida and other terrorist organizations hate the US is because of these policies. Given this background, my “guess” is that the rebuilding represents an olive branch to the Palestinians. Sort of, we don’t hate you, let’s be friends and getting away from the cowboy attitude of the previous administration in these matters. Beating them with a stick has not changed attitudes, let’s try something different.

One of the biggest problems with this idea is that Hamas (a terrorist organization) is currently the democratically elected head of the Palestinians. Funding that has gone to them in the past has not been used entirely (may be not at all) for humanitarian aid for those who need it. It has been used to buy additional arms for Hamas. Any aid that goes cannot be in the direct form of money and has to go, somehow, directly to the people. Basically in the hopes of winning hearts and minds.

This being said, I’m not sure that I can support such an effort. I still have vivid memories of videos showing Palestinians basically dancing in the streets as the towers came down on 9-11. At that moment, I stopped giving a rat’s arse about them. In addition, Hamas is known for indiscriminately firing rockets almost daily at Israel. IF any funding is set aside to aid the Palestinians, I want assurance that such aid will NOT in any way shape or form be used by Hamas. If ANY funds are seized by Hamas, then several million $$ in additional funds needs to be sent over in the form of several cruise missiles straight down the throats of the Hamas leadership and all other funding cut off.

Well, that’s one liberal’s point of view.

How about we just use some of that American inginuity and come up with a viable alternative fuel source. That way no other America has to die fighting for oil and we don't have to care what happens in the ME.

Yeah I agree wholeheartedly but you'd think the alternative source would have come to fruition by now.

You're right about the olive branch theory Andrew...and I get that...it's a very complex situation. All they have ever known, since they squirted out of their mamas onto the sand, is that America is the root of all problems, Jews are evil, anybody not worshiping Allah shouldn't be walking the earth, etc, etc. You're not going to change that by tossing some dollars their way...that's a waste of money and breath. I'm all for peace, but it's just not going to happen over there.

I will admit I was hoping that the new 'change" of Gubment was going to actually give a rip about the United States. The speeches were excellent and delivered with Hollywood style. His promises sounded great and his condemnation of the previous administration made one believe that he would control wasteful spending and attempt to balance the budget. He has done worse than I feared and his cabinet picks have been suspect at best.

Now Hillary and Congress throwing money out of the US and of all places in the Hamas controlled area shows what they think of us. I mean where in the US could we have used that money? UHHH let me see...... GOTTA REALLY THINK SINCE ALL IS WELL IN THIS COUNTRY....I GOT IT!CONTROLLING OUR BORDERS!!!!!! (Idiots)

Think about it, Chuck Shumer basically said we are to stupid to care about "porkie projects" in the Stimulus package. Congress throwing money to a "terrorist" area...let me say that again a "terrorist" area. This act throws Israel under the bus and who knows what damage that will cause. Plus, attempts by the far left goofballs to control guns and freedom of speech. This group of entitled misfits has lost their minds and I think they are not going to be happy until they break us all.
