FishinPhil go to Patoka instead better chance of catching a bass

I'm thinking about heading to Hardy Lake this spring for bass for the first time. Any info on what to expect would be much appreciated. Looking for advice on best time in spring to go, what size bass I can expect to catch, and anything else that would be helpful. Thanks
FishinPhil go to Patoka instead better chance of catching a bass
I have not fished it much for bass, but I did fish for them twice last year. Most of the fish are going to be less than 14".I live in Madison and fished it maybe 20 times last year. Both times I fished for them I caught 10 to 15. I fish most of time for panfish and catch 5 to 10 then.
Hardy is generally considered a good lake for numbers of fish. Very few will he over 14". It has always had large weed beds. But last year, for some reason , they were practically non existent. It is also usually one of the clearest lakes around, at least in the summer. It has had heavy fishing pressure the last few years.
I heard that they killed off most of the weedbeds last year.
I can't figure out why they killed the weeds out there but I didn't fish it much last year and I only live about 5 miles away. We did have one tournament there last year though and I had 10 or so boats and I think I had 7 out of the 10 with fish. The winner had around 12 or 13 pounds of fish with one 5 pounder.
Have no idea why they killed all the grass but it is gone. And the fishin will suffer for a long while.
