Pull me over to check me and harrass me because I'm just fishin. Not running around partying and drinking with the boat overloaded. BULL

I don't know the answer to that, but our pontoon is rated for 13 people (over a dozen) and btw we fish on it, has two livewells working; (one more not hooked up and right now used for storage) several rod holders on board , and at least a dozen rods rigged right now ...

I'll admit we've never had a dozen people on it but IF we had it would not be "legally overloaded" FWIW

It's my guess that F&W already KNOW what person capacity that most pontoons are rated for, and most who own pontoons make sure to SHOW (out in the open) enough PFD for each person onboard....

So if a police officer writes a lot less tickets than the other officers he or she wont get jumped on for not writeing near as many tickets?

Sounds like you all have some officers with the "Barney Fife" complex there. I have had nothing but good run-ins with our KDFW people here on Ky Lake. I was checked several times last year, and they were pretty curtious. One even asked me which direction I was fishing so he didn't run over the top of my fish when he left. The ones down here seem to be avid sportsmen themselves.

u are correct i jsut passed my physical agility test today with kyfw and by far they are the best agency that i have been around... they will go out of there way for u... when i went on one ride along the officer brought the paper work to my place for me to fill out then when i got it done he came back and picked it up took care of it and then came got me at the house on the day of the ride along... and when i had to drive to menifee county the guy met me in mt sterling so i didnt have to drive as far..... i know that when i become an kyfw officer one of these days i am going to make someone someday mad but i am going to do my best to respect everyone on the woods and water and if u are breaking the law i wouldnt be doing my job if i didnt write u a ticket or give u a warning...... and if i am not doing my job then people will wonder why they are paying me...

I think that common sense and respect go a long way. That goes for any job even minimum wage jobs.
I have had some officers who knew we were fishing a tourny just ask us to hold up our license to see the color so he would not disturb our spot or fishing time. That's respect and common sense. Wish you luck man.

I don't know how much the fine is for but if I where you and the cost of a local Cave Run area lawyer was less, I would take that route. If for no other reason than he brings more revenue to the county in a month than all the musky guides combined. Everyone knows how our courts are run. Overcrowding encouraging favoritism, as does the daily working relationship your lawyer should have with local law enforcement and court officers, preferably a former state employee, Commonwealth Attorney say. Congrats on your agility test sir, if I where you I would let my hollow points chase the poachers, some of those guys are nasty. Might even have rabies, would explain an awful lot. Anyway the KDFWR is huge bureaucracy and a showcase of the state and its management abilities. That may partially explain why the "Barneys" are posted to areas with fewer out of state tourists.

I get checked on Cave Run more than any other lake.Especially in the spring of the year.Dont have a clue why but thats the way it is.There is one officer that is die hard, dont care what your reason is ,if he has a reason why you are getting a ticket.2 years ago he was in training with 2 other officers and dummy me had forgot to put my new stickers on the boat and they came over while me and the wife were fishing.Actually caught one as they were pulling up.saw them and realized the stickers were in the truck.Well the 2 elder officers were willing to idle back to the marina which was in sight so I could show proof, but no,the young guy wouldnt have it.ticket time.He has pulled me over 4 times since. So I feel your pain.

    Re: Respect

I think it can all be summed up into one thing...no matter where you go or what you're involved in, people are people, some have common sense, some do not...others are down right asinine and think they have to prove something, maybe some people think they have to prove their jobs are needed? May the sun shine bright on all of our Kentucky Homes!

Forbin is right about this. I get checked several times a year on the lakes and rivers and sometimes hunting. Every run in ive had has went very smooth with KDFWR officers, now on the other had i have seen some Federal Game Wardens who did everything they could to right tickets. Each time they visited our goose lodge and the surrounding ones, they have come in with SUPER COP complexes. Ive even had a KDFWR officer apologize for the way the feds behaved

I bout got run over last year @ rough right in front of 2 f&w officers, they came to me and asked for life jackets!!??? I asked them about that moron and they didn't understand why I was mad, they felt he did nothing wrong, why he only missed me by 5-10 feet, why should I be mad?. If it wasn't about money, how come I have NEVER had a livewell checked, just life jackets and license?

    Re: Respect

all of my run ins have been smooth very friendly and professional. it could be in this case the game warden had just been listing to the people at the marina gripe about the other boats so he had to do something. I have to agree i would go to court and state my side. if it was me, i would have given you a warning.

I have the utmost respect for these folks because 90% of the time they are dealing with people with weapons even if they are fishing. even the police have back up but the ones i have seen are by themselves. ryan congrates and good luck
