    Re: Whats ethical and moral

Didn't say it did and yes I know exactly what all is requiered for embyonic stem cell research. My point was that he somehow finds cloning offensive(I aggree with that stance and therefore wouldn't force him to contribute to it either) but doen't think abortion or embryonic stem cell research is offensive. I am offended but I don't count and if I refuse to contribute and will find myself in jail. My tax money still goes for things that I think are unethical and or immoral. If these poeple need money to do the research that requires the destruction of innocent human life, let them raise their own money. I'm sure there are enough people in this country that don't have a conscience and would contribute in hopes of making tons of money. Now that the government is involved I'm sure they will milk the research for all it's worth. I'm still against forced charity. When polotitians start telling you what is moral and ethical then you are forced to contribute to things that you might consider wrong.

    Re: Whats ethical and moral

You're comparing apples and unicycles. Embryonic stem cell researchers are trying to develop cures for many diseases. It's something that will benifit ALL society, possibibly even your own family. As you note, embryonic stem cells come from eggs that would otherwise be destroyed. What is more offensive, destroying an egg for absolutely no purpose at all or using that same egg to help others? I'll chose the latter.

If you are suggesting that those eggs are human life, are you also against invetro fertilization since a bunch of those eggs will be destroyed?

Abortion I personally do not agree with. However, there are cases where it is the less objectionable route. For instance, in cases where the mother is at risk of dying, rape or insest. Used as a means of birth control, no way.
Don't think cloning is right either.

Many of considered war morally and ethically objectionable, yet all have to pay for that? How is it that people who find such things as stem cell research and abortion objectionable seem to have no problem with capital punishment or war? Seems that a whole lot of innocent human life is destroyed during wars. Republicans, pro-life until the moment of birth.....

btw, did Obama actually state that abortion was not offensive, or is that just you interjecting your thoughts?

Got no dog in this fight, I agree with stem cell research. However Mr. Obama did say if his own daughter made a mistake, "she shouldn't be punished with a baby". I'd take that comment to mean he favors abortion as means of birth control, an so doesn't find it very offensive at all. I'd be interested to hear your take on it.

    Re: Whats ethical and moral

Whats so moral about MAKING children be born, and then just forgetting all about them , while in some cases they need to suffer from curable or controlled illnesses, because we wont fund health care for children? As for abortion being a form of birth control, no! But if the choice for me was my wife or the child, its the wife. We dont seem to get it, its a womans choice, not a middle aged politician to make those decisions. We will all answer to god some day, let him decide who is right. And if it rufles some feathers so be it, if you cant concieve naturally, why is that the case? maybe that genetric line wasn't meant to exist.Cloning? Why? is there some reason we are not having normal children. There have been some major blunders with altering plant stocks, but still the advocates just go along, not really testing the long term effects on what some science can do.
