Revo SX man myself. I have a few of them, and definitly like the feel and castability over a shimano. JMHO.

I still think they're all too pricey, but I still have my little old curados. Can't see finish/brand name anymore but keep cleaned and lubed, still work like new. Really like the revos for some reason but last spring when I went to buy, The folks at BPS said that alot of reels were coming back. I forgot why, Heard the pro Joe Thomas had to send several of his back but still loves his. But I heard all of this at BPS where two of the guys have deals, one with shimano other with daiwa. Definitely can't afford high end daiwas.
Whatever fits you best!!!![]()
I used nothing bit ambassadors for about 15 years. 4600's mainly, I tried a couple of different brands low profile with no luck. Then Ambassador came out with Revo series. Since then I have sold all the 4600. I have 4 revo s, 3 sx, 1 sx high speed, and 2 stx. got them on ebay when they first came out and after I tried one and loved it. I am a firm believer in ambassador reels probably since my uncle and dad is all they used to. I have never tried curados so I can't make any comment. But I will tell you that the revos are great reels.
The Evansville Wal-Mart (also one in Destin FL) still have the Revo S for $100 while at other locations - Bass Pro, Cabelas and Gander Mountain) - they are $129 plus there is a mail in rebate coupon from ABU Garcia's web site for a $15 rebate. I had not used anything but the 55000Cs until I purchased two Revo S prior to my Florida trip where I fished golf course lakes when not golfing. I really liked them and they handled several Bass in the 5-9 lb range with no problem. Liked them so much that I bought another!
I personally prefer the revo. The revo has more drag power than the curado which is what you would probably prefer if you're going to use it for jigs. Both great reels, good luck in your decision
The new Curado E7 is a super nice reel. The profile, weight and power set it above previous models which I have and still own. The E7 casts and handles braided line better then any reel I've ever fished.
The downside to the new Curado's is that they don't make a 6:3 gear ratio which might be slight issue for some applications.
The Revo STX is a super nice reel but you take on more weight. I have a Revo Premier that I like a great deal as a spinnerbait reel and don't have issue with ABU reels.
I don't think you can go wrong either direction. My choice would be an E7 if I were mostly casting (vs. pitching light lures) or using braid.
Hope this helps.
I have a Revo 's' and I dont believe there is 75-100 dollars worth of difference between one and a curado. My opinion though.
Bought 1 Revo S last year just to try. I now have six and are getting ready to add the Winch for flippin/pitchin.
