Gilly is right...........AND if the reel is an old school curado, or citica or whatever, it probalby uses a REALLY CHEAP ABEX 7 bearing.
4x10x3 or 4x10x4.
Use this site....... http://www.vxb.com/ , and buy some SERIOUS ceramic bearings.
Replace the end cap bearing, and the tension bearing, and you will NEVER have a problem again..........and you will NEVER have to oil them again either.
BEST bearings ever..............and I replaced them on every reel I own......

alright, guys. ron posted this link for cleaning and supertuning your reels. i found the simichrome at a local hardware store, but have a question. what do you soak the bearings in to remove all the dirt and grime? some say kerosene, some say lighter fluid. both make me nervous cause i'll probably catch myself on fire. any other ideas on what to clean everything with once the reel is disassembled. i did get a bottle of regular alcohol.
here's the link ron posted a few days ago.

You as likely to light yourself on fire with regular alcohol as with lighter fluid. Might as well use theor recommended fluids since it is known to work.
i use carburetor cleaner for bearings only.
