Black and Blue or Green Pumpkin for most all water situations. And I'll often use a plastic trailer tipped with Chart. or Red, depending on water clarity.

Leaving your (go-to) lures at home is tough to do but thats what I made myself do....I have been fishing jigs for many years but I had to make myself learn to fish them......the easiest thing to do if you don't get a hit for 30 minutes or so is lay it down and go back to your confidence tackle.
The bass are the best teachers but you have to keep at it until you find the right place and time.

Caught a 19 inch LM and three keeper size under 14 inches yesterday flippin' a black jig and black tail.

Now that will give a fellow confidence
speaking of confidence I would just love to go to the Dale Sat. but hadn,t
had the old boat out all winter and just got done over hauling it. It's a 11/2 hr. drive so I guess I had better stay home and go to Barren. Any tips on the bite

throw a black and blue jig, orange and green, cranks, plastics, spinners, and would have throw one of them Banjo things ,if I had one ,on Barren today up Peters an not a hit.But I am still happy the old motor runs great and i'll now ready for the Dale. Didn't get there to noon and every one i talked to said the bite stopped at dinner. Differant ones i talked to said this morning they were hitting everything, this fellow show me a nice bass he was turning back at the dock, Another man and lady that had been fishing up the river said she had three, one a 5.2 another 3 on a jig not very deep. Another fellow, i know, had 5 with his buddy's 4 on a rattle trap this morning. Feels petty good to be back on the water.

Re: When and what color jigs...

you asked earlier what the bite feels like , well i've found there are numerous different jig bites sometimes it will be like a worm bite but ,
you have to pay close attention and concentrate watch your line if it jumps reel up slack and jack her jaw . sometimes it just feels mushy , then sometimes it's like your dragging it through syrup they have it and are just swimming along with it. man i could go on and on i just love my jig . but it takes practice time on the water with jig rod in hand is the only way to figure it out . then just when you think you got it ,you'll have one hit like
you never felt before and you will miss her but , you just learned something for the next time . hope this helps .
p.s. trust me when you start catching them on the jig it's hard to put it down . but you have to. different seasons dictate this . when fish are suspended you'll be in for along day . i learned these things the hard way losing money . but , what don't kill us or send us to the poor house makes us better fishermen . these are my very humble opinions .

Do you fishs these like worms, hows the hit feel, how much weight at how deep. I think i get the ideal on the color, dark dirty and lighter color in clear water.
gillman, my opinion and thoughts for jig fishin.

you must watch your line. I am not big on keeping a tight line on my jig. I leave a bit "just a bit" of slack in the line. You may feel a tick or you may just see your line jump, your line might just start moving off. If any of the above happen reel up any slack and cross those eyes. That is how this rookie fishes a jig.
