Well around 12 or so i stoped by a local city lake just to throw around, thought i might snag a few bass. turns out the bass there were AGGRESSIVE, i was throwin a red 1/4oz lipless. caught 22 from 10-14in. in an hour, so i was thinkin maybe i should go somewhere with some bigger bass. Hooked up the boat headed to bluegrass, again started with the same lure but bumped up to a 1/2oz and again i was loading the boat with short fish. i caught 13 and i was lovin it but i had to pick up the swimbait and go for a big one. burnt my last hour1/2 with a swimbait in my hand with no luck but alls good, great to have some active fish. i hate fishin slow.

now thats nice, i would trade all those little fish for a pair of 4's any day. i havnt been able to figure out where any bigger fish are at so far this year, bluegrass tends to humble me like that
Stevens,
That's a great day of fishing. If you are more interested about catching the bigger ones, then I agree with SteveM4A1, throw a stickbait this time of year. I prefer the Smithwick Rogue with black back/silver belly, as long as the water is mainly clear to slightly stained for the bigger bodies of water. For smaller bodies of water, I like the jig worked slowly. Those are the baits that have produced my bigger bass through the years. Hope this helps.
lol man was it a day for fishing today. used the exact same bait, stickbait (sry dont wanna get more specific) and caught nice 12 inchers on the first 3 casts off the boat ramp. put my jon in the water (stratos is getting worked on) and headed to my usual spot at this specific lake. first cast, BAM 7 pound 12 ouncer. biggest bass i've ever caught. so after i throw it back, i sit down for a sec and try to catch my breath. next cast, BAM 7 pounds 6 ounces. wat a day!!! within an hour span, i caught the two mentioned above, another 7 pound 4 ouncer, a 5 pound 4 ouncer, and one right at 2 pounds. best fishing day of my life. my hand is shredded, not just my thumb!!

Holy smokes man that is AWESOME! Did you get some pictures?
haha yea i had to take them with my phone so everyone would believe me...i dont have a cord to plug it in to the computer thoi may have to take you there sometime man, its not too far from here and not many people know it holds HUGE fish. people fish it all the time, they just fish it completely wrong. i cant think of 1 time i've fished there that i havent pulled a 5 pounder out of the water. if only everyone released big fish like that we southerners of indiana would have some awesome fisheries...
P.S. same thing with bluegrass though man, i cant EVER pull one out of there over 5 or 6 pounds. the place stumps me everytime.
man that sounds like a day i had last year at this time. i do alot of stripper pit fishing. my wife is also hooked! i took her to my favorite pit and she had a lunker but lost it right next to the boat she bout cried i loved it because from that day on she loves to fish .

New to the boards here, and a southern Indiana guy myself. Grew up in Newburgh, had never really fished in my youth. Now in B-town surrounded by Monroe, Lemon, and Patoka down south.
We are off to Patoka for our first tournament of the season. Thank god it's fishing season again...and I am sooooo tying on a Rapala silver/ black stick bait/ jerk bait.
I want some monsters too! Thanks for the tip!![]()
the hard part isn't figuring out what lure to use for the big'ins, its finding the those **** fishies.
