    Fishing Guist Creek

Went fishing at Guist Creek yesterday and caught 3 bass. 11" on a shakey head with orange worm, 14" on a black and blue jig and 11" on small shallow diving craw colored crank bait. The water was in the upper 40's and I fished from 10:30am to 2:30pm. I am new to the area and will love for someone to help me catch more and better fish the next trip. I am taking my little boy and would like for him to catch some.

    Re: Fishing Guist Creek

First off welcome to our great site. Secondly Guist can be good and it can be tough. If you want your son to catch some fish and you aren't married to bass fishing I suggest panfishing. There is a little lake in Henry County called Lake Jericho. You can idle speed only and take the big rig or rent a small boat of their's that's reasonably priced. In April the crappie go nuts in that little lake and he will have a ball. They aren't very big but plentiful and easy to catch on slow drifted minnows under slip bobbers about 4 to 6 ffot deep. Play the wind, get the boat in the middle of the lake throw the minnows out and let the breeze just pull you down lake towards the dam. Repeat process and you'll catch a bunch. They have also stocked alot of channel cats in there to with a 12'' minium size limit, you will catch several of these doing this method as well. If it's bass you want you are going to have to travel some distance to get him hooked up. Rough, Nolin, Cumberland and especially Kentucky or Barkley lakes will be a strong bet for you and your son. Guist can be a crap shoot and Taylorsville is a complete waste of time. Good luck.

Jericho can be a good bass lake as well. I know of at least 2 7+ bass out of there so far this year none of which are mine. I am heading over there this weekend myself. I caught one there last year around 5 about this time of year as well.
